Favorite Face of the Day: Ryan Murray

Above: Ryan by Joseph Bleu.

When most people think of an 'up and comer' they thinking about someone in their teens breaking into show business. For those who know the business at all know that you can be an up and comer for years until you get your big break. I would guess even Kathryn Joosten was an up and comer (despite decades of credits) until she was in her 70's and landed the role on 'Desperate Housewives'.

Actor, singer and model Ryan Murray is an up and comer. He defines exactly what an up and coming actor needs to be. Talented and hard working. Ryan has been working for years, mostly on the stage, plugging away and building his resume waiting for that big break. Some might have seen Ryan on television when he had a recurring role on 'Guiding Light' as well as bit parts on other tv shows and movies. Ryan's most well known stage role might have been in 'Lone Star Love'. Although critically well received, 'Lone Star Love' got as much attention due to Randy Quaid's battle with Equity.

Through all the roles, in all the different theatres. Through all the auditions, the success and the rejection what I most love and respect about Ryan Murray is his enthusiasm for the business and for his determination to stick with his passion until that perfect role comes along. Forever hopeful Ryan has many things he juggles. Not only acting, but Ryan also balances modeling, fitness instruction and recording. I am positive with his talent, not to mention great looks that role is like Ryan, up and coming.

In between acting roles, Ryan also models. His stage experience provides Ryan the ability to be at ease in front of the camera. Ryan displays a wide range of emotion through his modeling and his strong facial features and piercing blue eyes have combined for some great images. Ryan has been in front of the lens of some of the business's top photographers and has an impressive portfolio.

Take a look at more of Ryan's shots, as well as learn more about him at his great site which you can find HERE:

Since I am posting more of Dan Skinner's work below, thought the pic of the day should be another shot of Dave Wilkinson.

Time To Check out "Accidentally on Purpose"

If you have not checked out "Accidentally on Purpose" yet, the re-airing of the pilot tonight on CBS is a good reason to give it a shot. Jenna Elfman and Jon Foster are extremely likable leads and the show does a great job of letting us get to know the characters beyond the shows premise. When I first watched the pilot, though I enjoyed it, I worried the premise could bog the show down. I had little need to worry. Series creator Claudia Lonow and the writers have done a great job of fleshing out the main characters as well as the series supporting cast which include Grant Show, Ashley Jensen, Lennon Parham and Nicolas Wright.

The writing has gotten crisper and more on point with each episode and last weeks episode which included a hilarious 'facebook' discussion would have had anyone who has a fb 'friend' who likes to continually send out cyber kisses and hugs laughing out loud. Lets hope CBS gives the show a full season. It is hard for a tv sit-com to win me over. 'Accidentally on Purpose' has done that with likable characters, great acting and spot on writing. The fact that Jon Foster is so adorable is just an added bonus!

Pic Series Of The Day: Study Break by Dan Skinner

In September I did a post on Photographer and artist Dan Skinner from Cerberus Inc and his work with model and friend Dave Wilkinson. I followed that post up with one shot as 'pic of the day' from Dan's series 'Study Break'. Here are some more amazing shots from that series.

Dan began this series with the goal wanting to do a total exploration of the male/male romance. The web is filled with exploring sex, but there is shockingly very little on romance.

What may seem like a simple concept was actually more difficult to carry out. Dan has a vision and completing this project was more complicated than it looks.

'It was an elaborate storyboard I laid out scene by scene just like a movie script. The shoot took 12 hours simply because I had to climb all over the place, up and down on ladders, out on balconies, rearrange lights, bring in people to hold lights... etc. etc.'
Dan Skinner

Dan did not just want his models (Mondo and J.P.) to pose, he wanted them to act. When looking at the images, you can see how doing the shoot like scenes from a movie plays out by bringing out emotions and subtle movements with eyes and the body that might not otherwise have been seen.

Beautiful Work Dan!
