This past May I profiled the work of Albuquerque photographer Christopher Singleton(Totally Old School: (JT Tucker by Christopher Singleton). Christopher shoots solely in black and white and uses an alternative printing process to finish off his images. Christopher is currently working on a new book, Have a Seat.
Have a Seat is a culmination of of various ideas of portraiture, highlighting my personal artistic style, and my love of analog photography and alternative printing processes. I want to self-publish a collection of male figure studies, each model posing with one or more chairs as the common theme.
Christopher has set up a page on Kickstarter for people to learn more about his upcoming book and to seek support for the project, stop on over and learn more HERE:
Yeah I know I unfanned him last week (and got a bit of reaction for it) but that does not mean I don't see the importance of these hot shots of actor Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka vacationing on Elton John's yacht in the Mediterranean. I say important as I am not sure growing up I ever thought major news outlets would show an openly gay couple, let alone on an openly gay music icon, as casually as they show ole Posh and David and Angelina and Brad. We have come a long way!
Although he hails from the South, Matthew Kirk has had his sites firmly set on Broadway from an early age. A graduate of the School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston (vocal music) and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Matthew has been acting, dancing and singing on stage most of his life.
Matthew made the move to New York seven years ago and has continued to follow his dreams appearing off Broadway and in productions throughout the country. In 2008 he made his Broadway debut in Irving Berlin's White Christmas at the Marquis Theatre.
Recently Matthew decided to try his hand at modeling and has been working photographers to build his portfolio. These shots by New York photographer Lucas Ferrier are some of my favorites. Matthew and Lucas have shot twice and Matthew feels the results are some of the strongest work in his newly budding portfolio. He reports they plan on shooting again in the near future.
You can check out more of Matthew's work, including his recent work with Rick Day on Model Mayhem HERE:
