Iwan Rheon: Viciously Adorable

PBS has been my gateway to enjoying many of the best of British sit-coms. Keeping Up Appearances, Vicar of Dibley and Are You Being Served were all shows I fist caught as a kid on PBS. This past Sunday, the networked premiered Vicious, the show featuring Freddie and Stuart, a gay couple who have been living, and fighting, together for nearly 50 years.

The show stars features Derek Jacobi and Ian McKellen as Freddie and Stuart and actress Frances de la Tour as their best friend Violet. Although the show was not especially great on the page, the actors, maybe especially Francis, made the 30 minutes fly by with their delivery. I know I have seen Frances before, but I cannot remember where, must have been her Harry Potter appearances but it has been awhile since I saw the films.

Rounding out the cast is an adorable actor many may know from Game Of Thrones and other projects Iwan Rheon. Iwan plays Ash, the cutie who moves into the flat above where Freddie and Stuart reside. Iwan throws the boys into a whirl when he arrives on the scene and it is no wonder. Iwan is a very appealing actor and his character very open to his slew of older new friends. The show began airing last year in the UK but has just now made it to our television screens. If you missed the first episode, PBS has the first two shows on line to preview HERE:

Favorite New Face on Thursday Nights: Ditch Davey in The Black Box

I didn't expect much from ABC's new The Black Box, the premise seemed muddled and with all the shows being yanked the past few weeks, I was reluctant to invest in another drama, especially one so emotionally driven. My love for Vanessa Redgrave however, had me DVR the show and last week I finally watched the first three episodes. I love it. Although I almost stopped during the first half hour of the pilot, (too many dreams and misleading scenes) the show settled in with focused narrative and I became engrossed with life of Dr. Catherine Black. I had never heard of Kelly Reilly before, but her portrayal of the bi-polar, and emotionally broken Catherine is both fascinating, annoying as well as highly watchable and an acting tour de force for the shows lead actress.

Above: Ditch and The Black Box co-stars Kelly Reilly and David Ajala

Also making the hour speed by is the incredibly sexy face, and body, of actor Ditch Davey. The Australian born Davey was originally named Kristian Lind, but legally changed his name to Ditch at 18. Turns on Australian shows Blue Heelers and Sea Patrol led Davey to his most well known as Nemetes on Spartacus: War of the Damned.

I am not hopeful ABC will stick with The Black Box, the pilot's ratings were so so in its Scandal time slot, and have dropped with it's subsequent episodes. I would still encourage you to check it out, the show is only 3 shows in for it's 13 episode season so there is still time for viewers to find it. The shows complicated characters however may make it off putting and maybe 13 hours is enough to tell the story. 13 was certainly was the case with Under The Dome which is being dragged out for a second season. At least check out it for Mr. Davey who I predict will land on his feet nicely after his exposure on the show.

More of the Magnificent Matthias

Back in 2009 I first featured German actor Matthias Schweighöfer and his impressive body of work. In that feature (HERE:) I showcased images from his work in 2007's Das Wilde Leben' and Kammerflimmern and Baal, both in 2004.

Well ten years after Baal, (below) Matthias continues to take on roles, and take off his clothes, in both movies and German television shows. I love Matthias look, his incredible body and great face, freckles and beautiful blue eyes. Given the actor seems to be comfortable naked in front of the camera, I felt it my civic duty to update you all, since my 2009 piece, with more of my favorite Matthias moments.

Martin Gruber in Für alle Fälle Stefanie

Beautiful German actor Martin Gruber looking mighty fine in this 1998 scene from the German series Für alle Fälle Stefanie. The medical drama aired from 1995 through 2005 and this scene, featuring some great embarrassment nudity, aired in 1998.

Surprise! Favorite Video Clip of the Day

Thankfully actor Australian actor Xavier Samuel actors seems to often find himself naked (and wet) on film. Many might remember him running along the beach in Newcastle back in 2008. In A Few Best Men, Samuel is again soaking wet and not fully dressed for the party...
