Your tips when sleep tries to outrun you?

I have to take a sleeping pill EVERY NIGHT to get a full night of sleep. If I don't, I wake up off and on all night.
But I have found when I don't take a pill, deep breathes in and out for 5 or 10 minutes will sometimes exhaust and relax my system.
