Thumbs Down: NBC

I know NBC has been heavily bashed (and most of the times rightly so) for their Olympic coverage but until today I cut them a degree of slack. Billions are on the line and they are trying to get as much of it back as possible. But NBC, the Olympics are not a reality show! The Real Gymnasts of Russia might be a good Wednesday night show for you, but editing out world champion Ksenia Afanasyeva's fall, in order to build drama and tension rid NBC of any shred of integrity they had left. What's next editing the nightly news... well some claim this is already being done. Let's leave the editing to Andy Cohen and Bravo shall we.

They've done a pretty good job broadcasting the diving competitions but everything else has been awful. I hate their gymnastics (not enough of the other teams) and swimming (too much Michael Phelps) coverage.

Why do they have long segments of reporters' discussions? Who cares about their commentary; we want to see the Olympics, not NBC's talking heads. As for the Nightly News, that's mostly commercials and fluff stories and very little real news. News corporations don't want us to see anything but what they want us to see.

LOVE the Danell Leyva pics. I got tired of the NBC coverage early. All the hype about how much they were covering online is disappointing. To get those events you have to have cable/satelitte hookups. Sorry people who get TV from antennas. And what they ARE showing on NBC is so one sided. If the USA isn't involved, forget it. It's either not shown at all or yiou get highlights or edited versions. I got REAL pissed during The Opening Ceremonies with the commentators talking all the way through them...and breaking away to commercials, making us miss things. All about the money.
