'Every human being has within him an ideal man, just as every piece of marble contains in a rough state a statue as beautiful as the one that Praxiteles the Greek made of the God Apollo.'
Last September, I was fortunate to be able to feature the work of artist and photographer Martin Visser and his work with the exceptionally beautiful Juan-Dré. The South African model oozes an intense sex appeal from every pore in his incredibly body and his intensely stunning green eyes. The images included in that first post, (A Most Personal Work) like the first two shots included here, were taken a couple of years ago. I ended that first piece with two sizzling shots of Juan-Dré in the shower that were taken more recently.
Juan-Dré with Ruan
Juan-Dré looked a little bit different, darker hair, apart from the dramatic wave of white, and a built up physique, clearly from well focused hard work, especially on his chest. There was something else different... Juan-Dré always had a strong presence in front of the camera, but there was an added strength, confidence and power in front of the camera. It as this, that Martin Visser tapped into for his new series of images featuring Juan-Dré.
Martin's vision features Juan-Dré morphing into many of the most well known, and powerful Mythological Gods and Warlords. In the images, Juan-Dré begins by battling the sexy Ruan, but that battle is a warm up for the dragons and Mythological creatures which follow.
When I first contacted Martin about a follow-up, it was after seeing some Black & Whites of Juan-Dré posing and holding spears, swords and bow's, and other classic tools of battle. Martin shared that these shots were actually images used for the first stage for a new series of color shots, some of which I included below. I love the contrasting visuals of those first images with the stark black background, to the colors and epic visuals Martin created using the initial studio shots.
