'With a flaccid penis, it's the number of folds that count. And anyway, I don't get semi-erect around other males like some of you fellas do.'
Lucas, 1986
I loved the movie Lucas when I was a kid. The story was great and Charlie Sheen was beautiful (pre-melt down) as the high school jock keeping an eye on Lucas. I didn't like Bruno though, the high school bully who torments Lucas in the shower. Lucas won the battle of wits, but Bruno's size and teammates made it impossible for Lucas to fight off feeling the burn....
Valerie/Hogan's Family (1986-1990)
A few weeks ago I caught a few minutes of the movie on TV and was curious about the actor playing Bruno. If you were a movie lover in the 80's and 90's you knew the face of actor Tom Hodges, even if you couldn't remember his name.
Heavyweights (1995)
Tom has appeared in a long list of movies and TV shows including stints on movies and TV shows including: Heavyweights, China Beach, Walker:Texas Ranger, The Facts of Life and Tour of Duty. I'm sure many of you will also remember Tom as Dolly Parton's scowling son in Steel Magnolias.
Lucas (1986)
Tom also played Rich, one of Jason Bateman's friends on the series Valerie/The Hogan Family. Hodges actually co-wrote the season six episode of The Hogan Family entitled 'Best of Friends,' Worst of Times;, in which his character Rich revealed that he was battling the effects of AIDS.
The shower scene in Lucas is a classic, and although some of the dialogue is a bit dated, (especially the gay slurs) it holds up due to the performances. Although there were a few extra's baring their buns behind all the steam, given Lucas' age, and the age of the audience the film was aimed filmed, more nudity wouldn't have been appropriate.
Excessive Force (1993)
With a wee bit of of research I did uncover what I believe is Tom's only nude scene. It's almost a cliche, but in so many action and horror films, having sex is so often shown as foreplay before a grizzly death. That's exactly what happens to Tom's character Dylan in 1993's Excessive Force.
