'And the Word became flesh and took up residence among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth.'
John 1:14
It may be a little corny, and sure, some may even see it as a little blasphemous, I's difficult though, to feature a model named Jesús, especially this close to Christmas, without noting the connection. For the original arrival, three Kings and Wisemen brought gifts to celebrate, this Jesús however, brings his own impressive gifts to share to share with the world.
Photographer Rob Colgan originally connected with Jesús on Instagram. Jesús is originally from Spain, and although he spoke English well, Rob wasn't sure all of his discussion points translated that well. Despite any minor communication issues, he and Jesús quickly connected over the work. There was another thing artist and model had in common, they're mutual love of design.
Although he models in his spare time, Jesús works full time as an architect. Although Jesús may design new buildings, and Rob prefers older, largely long neglected properties, they're both passionate about structure and location. No, they didn't work in a rundown manger, although I can certainly see Rob shooting enjoying shooting one.... They did however, explore and create in some very old, and long abandoned buildings in St. Louis. They even spent time shooting an old cemetery, one of Rob's favorite photographic haunts
'Jesús set my camera afire! His enthusiasm was abundant, and he brings a smoldering sensuality to these pics like none other.'
FH readers know I love the blend of urban decay with photography of the nude male form. There's something uniquely sensual about visuals of smooth naked flesh within decaying structures. It's almost as if the model's presence is activating flashes of the spaces history and spirits from the past. Few possess the mastery to arouse these long forgotten memories quite like artist Rob Colgan.
While we're on the subject of arousing, Jesús had absolutely no issues rising to the occasion. His passion and excitement for each and every shot was visibly evident. Once they began shooting, Rob realized that Jesús was quite an exhibitionist and really seemed to love the attention. Rob also wondered if Jesús may have thought the shoot was going to be for OnlyFans content given his frequent erections. Although photographing erotic material isn't normally his focus, Rob loved the imagery he and Jesús created. He hopes to work again with him in the future. rob You can see more of Rob's work with Jesús on his site HERE:
'Jesús is a carefree kind of guy with a beautiful body that exuberantly embraced the photo session. His accent was also exotic addition. I enjoy working with guys who are comfortable with themselves and their bodies. Models who are confident with their artistic direction, if you will. They are the ones who ground these pictures in reality making them almost voyeuristic – like stolen visions.'
