The Grabbys!

If you're not into the Oscar's, but are still up for an award, there might be another competition you rather vote for an watch.  Just as it's Oscar season, it's also the season for Grabbys.  Celebrating the adult film industry, the prestigious award is set to be given out at the Metro Theatre in Chicago at the end of May.

There are plenty of categories that mirror the Academy Awards, like best actor, best supporting actor, best director and film.  The Grabbys however, also include categories you certainly won't see given out on the stage or Dolby Theatre.  It would be fun however, to see Denzel Washington and Dame Judi Dench Hottest hand out the awards for Hottest wink, Hottest Top & Bottom. Best Duo & Threeway and Hottest Cock.  I'm guessing Judi would be game!

There are several nominee's this year who've been featured on FH including Sergey, Devin Franco and Ethan Tate.  If you're interested, you can have your vote counted by heading to the Grabbys site  (HERE:) and showing a little love to your favorite's!

Iconicus

'The only thing an actor owes his public is not to bore them.'
Marlon Brando

Every year around Oscar time, I head to 'the list'.  The list of actors who have the most Academy Award nominations and wins.  The top two actors are Meryl Streep and Katherine Hepburn, but when it comes to men, Jack Nicholson comes in first at number three.  Over the year's I've been ticking my way down the list with pieces featuring  Nicholson, (HERE:) Denzel Washington, (HERE:) and Paul Newman. (HERE: & HERE:)

This year, I chose the iconic Marlen Brando, an actor with a total of 8 Oscar nominations and 2 wins.  Marlon is one of those rare thespians who is remembered both for sex appeal and his iconic roles and acting abilities.  Brando, much like Marilyn Monroe and James Dean, has joined a small group of celebrities who have pop culture icons, and who's faces and bodies continue to remember long past their lives and their careers.

Best Actor
1951: A Streetcar Named Desire (nominated)
1952 Viva Zapata (nominated)
1953 Julius Caesar (nominated)
1954 On The Waterfront (won)
1957 Sayonara (nominated)
1972 The Godfather (won, but declined)
1973 Last Tango in Paris (nominated)

Best Supporting Actor
1989: A Dry White Season (nominated)

My introduction to Brando wasn't really the greatest.  The first two Brando films that I watched were VHS rentals, most likely picked by my parents.  I saw nothing special about the large man I first watched in The Freshman, (1990) and The Island of Dr. Moreau. (1996)  It wasn't until I was much older that I finally saw some of the actor's best performances in Guys & Dolls and On The Waterfront.

I have to admit however, that I have yet to actually watch The Godfather.  I'm not sure why, I read so much about it, and know it's a classic.  It's on television all the time, but I've always avoided it, but it's on my movie 'bucket list' to finally watch this year.

In addition to his talent and uniquely hot look, Brando is also a fascinating actor to read and learn about.  From his refusal to accept his 1972 Oscar, his reputation as being difficult,  his personal and love life and even his weight gain during the 1970's and 1980's make for great stories.  Marlen Brando, Oscar winner, and the epitome for the word Iconicus.

Back to School

'No sir. You're never going to forget this happened, because I'm going to stay here. And every time you see me, you'll remember that it happened. You used me for football. I'll use you to get into Harvard'
David Green

I was still in high school when I saw 1992's School Ties in the theatre.  The movie had a lasting impact on me for a number of reasons.  The subject matter of course, and the fact I was on a date with my high school girlfriend.  I wrote a bit about my experience on the site before when I profiled actor Randall Batinkoff, some of which I'm sharing again below.

At the time, I knew nothing about what the film was about and had never heard of Matt Damon, Brendan Fraser, Randall Batinkoff or any of the other male actors that made up the cast.  The film was sort of a dream come true for the guy (still in the closet)  on the date back then. Each male cast members was more adorable than the next. Chiseled jaws, great hair, and incredible bodies, some of whom were showed off in the famous shower scene.

At the time, I crushed mostly over Randall and Brendan Fraser.  The entire cast however, Damon, Chris O'Donnell, Ben Affleck, Cole Hauser, Andrew Lowery and Anthony Rapp were all incredibly good looking and incredibly talented.  The film introduced me to most of the cast, Fraser, Damon, and Damon's hot derrière. It also introduced me to something I'd not previously been aware of, antisemitism.

Sadly, thanks in large part to the orange ass who inhabited The White House, antisemitism has been spotlighted once again.  It likely never went away, but it didn't have a recent national political figure who supported and coddled it's followers and believers.  When I first watched School Ties, I thought I was watching a piece of history, how sadly wrong I was.

I'm not sure if the casting director, and the film's director Robert Mandel knew what magic they created with the actors they hired.  It's rare to find a film that caught so many young actors on the brink of hitting it big.  The film was certainly Brendan Fraser's break out role, and Damon, Affleck and O'Donnell quickly followed School Ties with huge break out films of their own.

So.. that shower scene.... It was hard to sit still in my seat when I first watched in the theatre. Thank God it was dark and that my date as focused on the screen and not my excitement and arousal.  At the time, my focus was on Damon's cute butt, and a little distracted by the bubbles strategically place on Chris O'Donnell's butt, clearly at the actor's request to ensure his butt was not fully visible.

Brendan Fraser and Matt Damon however appeared completely nude, something Fraser recently confirmed during a recent guest spot on The Howard Stern Show.  After Howard asked about the bare wrestling shower fight, Fraser shared that he and Damon were indeed completely nude during the filming of the scene.

'It was scary. It's scary to do that. When you're an actor and you're starting off, you're ambitious and game for pretty much anything. They say, 'Jump,' and you say, 'How high?'

'I appreciated that this isn't really for wow or a scintillating factor of going, 'Hey, look at that. Naked people.' The point of it was is that when Damon's character says what he says about David, he just reveals who he is.  His anti-Semitism and his prejudice is stripped down naked, and it's ugly.'
