Don't ask me what I was searching for, but I somehow stumbled upon this ebay listing for the one-sided thong. When I first discovered ebay, I was on the site daily, searching and buying. Mostly movie memorabilia, old cds and dvds. I don't scan the site as much as I used to, but it might be time to make a few more return visits. Not sure how practical these thongs are, but they do make unique and interesting lines on the body which is great for photographing. Someone should start a campaign for these to become official gear for swimmers for the next summer olympics.

Powerful Combination: Austin Wild by Gordon Nebeker

'No question that Austin won the Genes Jackpot Lottery! He says his father is Spanish and his mother is Cuban and that is a very attractive and powerful combination.'
Gordon Nebeker

One of the joys of working on FH, and one of the things that motivates me to keep the blog going is the connections I have made over the past 7 years. I truly value the trust that artists and models have given me to respectfully, and hopefully skillfully, present not only their work and images, but the stories behind them. It is particularly rewarding for me to have artists contribute on a regular basis. I also am aware from feedback that blog readers look forward to seeing new work from photographers they admire.

I first began featuring the work of photographer Gordon Nebeker in 2010. Since then, Gordon has become a favorite to work and collaborate with, and I have been fortunate to feature his work on a regular basis. Gordon's work has a depth and richness which is matched by the professionalism of the artist himself. Gordon often includes me in the process of his shoots, sometimes from the first connections with a model we are going to feature, to the processing of the finished images. The great skill and respect he brings to his work is reflected within his photographs, and the elegance weaved within, both separates and elevates Gordon's work to distinct plateau of it's own.

One of the goals of FH has always been to promote. I want to do more than just share great images, I want to in some way draw attention to exceptional work. When I write reach out to an artist, I make sure to state I am contacting not just for permission to feature their work, but because there is something about the work that affected me to want to share it. Sometimes, the combination of an artist images with the visual presentation and texts have resulted in FH features that have led to models and photographers connecting for future work.

When I first saw the work of model Austin Wild early in January I knew that I had come across something special. A tall drink of water at 6' 3", Austin had a strong and unique presence and a stunning look the camera loved. I was really surprised that I had not heard of Austin before and that photographers were not beating down his door to collaborate. Austin gave me the go ahead for a feature and the quote below is from, Wild About Austin, posted on January 20th of this year.

'Austin's 6' 3" frame is perfect for both fashion and fitness and he moves beautifully in front of the camera. Austin gladly supported a visit to FH, but for now is going to remain a bit of mystery. Hopefully he will soon be spotted by a skilled capturer of the male form who will shoot more images. Then more of the story, and the fantasy, can be told and continued.'

A skilled photographer certainly did spot Austin, and the story from the 20th, and on the 31st of that same month, Austin met up with Gordon Nebeker at his studio in Florida for their first shoot. Gordon and Austin were on board for a feature from the get go, but both so busy, I was forced to sit on the images until now. Not an easy task I assure you. The special quality I first saw in Austin was not a fluke, he shines in front of Gordon's lens and the story, and the fantasy has magnificently continued.

'When I read the piece on FH January, I saw that Austin is very near where I live in the Winter time and I have never noticed his MM profile before so got in contact. During the shoot, we were talking and I complimented him on his maturity for a young man his age. He said, "I think I am an old soul" and I think he is right. I had occasion to see him later in a group of people of mixed ages and he seemed to fit in well with everyone. Austin has a natural talent for acting and I would describe an emotion I wanted him to show in the photograph and he nailed it just about every time. He can look quite different from photograph to photograph which, to me as a photographer, makes his work more interesting and varied. Austin is very comfortable in his own skin and takes direction well. It was a joy to work with him and I am pleased he has agreed to another shoot in about a week's time. This time we will be photographing him wet and underwater!'

Austin loved working with Gordon as well and describes his a great photographer and extremely professional. 'Gordon is one the most charismatic photographers out there and I had the great pleasure to work with him!' The combination of artist and model clearly blended beautifully in this case as you can see by the incredible shots captured.

Gordon is mounting a one week show, 'The Male Nude', with photographer Greg Lindeblom, from the 20th to the 26th of April in Fort Lauderdale. Gordon says he is pleased to be including some of Austin's photographs in the show and welcomes everyone to attend! Details to follow!

Books: My Neighbor My Stalker by Billy Joe Davis

'Jesse would tell us stories about having sex on duty, which he claimed most of the officers did, usually with prostitutes that they would threaten to take in if they wouldn't give blowjobs or something'

I grew up in the city. My surrounding world was made up of busy streets, tall buildings, movement and constant energy. When I was in my mid-twenties, after finishing my degree, and finished a long relationship I longed for a change. I took a job in the country, hours from the city and my previous life. My surroundings became trees and mountains, cows and barns and desired quiet. Or so I hoped... I moved with a friend, and shortly after we settling into our new home, she began to date an officer from the small towns police detachment. They only dated for a few months, but the aftershocks from the relationship went on for a year. The officer was not the kind of police officer who you tell your children to seek out if lost. He was more the Samuel L. Jackson kind from the movie Lakeview Terrace. He stalked both her and I as well as anyone who visited our home. As scary it was it, our experience with a stalker ended well. After numerous complaints and meetings, the officer was transferred, to a remote location where hopefully the only think he can stalk is another animal in the woods. Not all stalking stories end with a happily ever after.

We often think the victims of stalkers are the rich and the beautiful. Models and celebrities with great bodies and successful careers, humans worthy of having someone lose their mind over. Truth is, the victims of stalkers are really not important at all. They are not in any way deserving of the attention, nor the pain, inflicted upon them. They are simply the person in the field of vision when the unbalanced becomes unhinged.

'Jesse started talking about how one late night he slit his wrists horizontally so the bleeding would be slow and was walking down the highway, but no one noticed, so he walked to a motel and stuck his wrists in the pool to open them back up, then he walked into a gas station so someone would notice the blood, and the cashier called 911.'

My personal experience with stalking has had me weary of books and dramatizations. Most of the Lifetime, Tori Spelling starring versions don't really come close to the reality. The fear and inability to control how you live your life. The 24 hour, 7 day a week cloud over everything and crime of not being able to feel safe, even within your own home. Maybe most of all, the lasting impact, both emotionally and financially, it can take on a life. These are some of the reasons Billy Joe Davis' My Neighbor My Stalker is such a compelling story. Billy Joe is not an actor, not a model not a man who ever would have thought he would be focus of obsession. Billy Joe is an artist, one's whose work I have featured on FH. An artist whose life was turned upside down by a neighbour and a stalker. The impact of the experience remains raw and is still playing itself out with Billy Joe's ability to move forward in almost every aspect of his life.

Billy Joe's experience with stalking was and continues to be about control, possession and jealousy. The ordeal destroyed his life, in part because of his stalker being an ex police officer with knowledge of how to use his friends, his connections and the system. Having been previously convicted of stalking a female years earlier, by the time he met Billy Joe, he had learned how to manipulate the system and cause severe damage by involving other police officers to help and with the cover up. The estimated financial damage is closing in on $100,000. Billy Joe is now ill, destitute, and at risk of losing his home with nothing to fall back on. Everyone that he knew was scared, threatened or intimidated away. Billy Joe's stalking ordeal is also not over, his stalker is still free to terrorize, the only change has been he has become more subtle, more secretive and ultimately, more dangerous.

'No one is immune from stalking, its not always a 'creepy' guy hiding behind bushes watching a pretty girl. I am not embarrassed about what happened and what is happening now, I just want to share my story, get my life back and let people know it can happen to anyone.'

Part of Billy Joe's journey to get his life back is to heal, rebuild and ultimately take back control. This is part of the reason for pouring his story into the novel 'My Neighbor My Stalker.' Billy Joe hopes the book will help get the message out about his ordeal so others won't have to go through the same suffering. In addition, sales of the book will go towards helping Billy Joe to get back on his feet financially. Check out the kindle edition on Amazon HERE:
