Many of you many have noticed, and many of you have clicked on, the FH Flashback photo (top right) and link I now add to each new days posts. For a while I was doing flashbacks as part of the main blog, but got more than few complaints about repetitive postings. I understand the comment, people expect new images and material when they drop by. I did however, want to ensure some of the many artists, models and performers were not buried 100's of pages in the blog's past.

FH will soon be entering it's 8th year, (can you believe it!) and there are so many wonderful images (including these two favorites of James) and stories that I want to ensure get the exposure they deserve. Most importantly, in the yearly years, blogger only allowed images to be a certain size, so I am trying to go back and update the old posts with larger images for you to enjoy. Whether you click or not, just know the link is there. I didn't have much of a system, but have started tracking them so they are only repeated when I intend, as I do sometimes to connect with an artist, an update or theme I am posting on that day.

Hang Eleven

Hang Eleven:
Dropping your trunks while hanging 10 on your surfboard. Placing 10 toes over the nose of your surfboard while dropping your trunks and thrusting out your penis.

Last weeks most popular flashback was a 2008 profile on model Johnny Beyer. While updating Johnny's images, I was again struck by his naked strut down the runway almost ten years ago.

Back in 2005, blogs and discussion groups devoted to the male form, were a buzz over Johnny, along side model Brad Kroenig, and their naked strut down the runway during John Bartlett runway show. These are all of the images I had compiled on the blog, but would love to know if anyone has any others not shown.

- Jpics: Sui Generis

'I enjoy capturing the personality of my subject. I am also interested in more abstract ideas. I love working with diverse people of all levels of experience, people who are happy to experiment and try new ideas and locations. Essentially I want to create beautiful images.'

What attracts me to a certain image, a certain artist depends. It depends on how I am feeling that day, my mood, the weather, even the time of year. Some days I have no desire to see another images of a male model in front of a colored studio background, on another day I might be sick of seeing models climbing out of swimming pools.

It is one of the reasons images I overlook on a Monday, might be my favorite image ever the following Friday. The one constant though, the one thing that always has me stop is when I see an images with something, even a small thing, that I haven't seen before. This is what had me pause the first time I saw a visual from Jon from - Jpics.

That first image was the second shot of Mike below. The pose, the framing and angle. The buildings that surround the London rooftop. Mike's only item of clothing, the boots that seem to have his attention. Was the image planned, or an out take from the shoot?

Mike

Jon's use of the word abstract in the description of his work sort of give us the answer. When you view Jon's work, the images don't appear to be a finished thought or story, but more the journey of getting there. What is seen a long the way. In all of Jon's images, I see something that draws me in. A good example is the image at the top of this piece. A relatively standard shot of an underwear clad model leaning on a brick wall. I initially deleted it from the set I was going to use, into the recycle bin it went. Then for a reason I didn't initially recognize, I went back, twice to retrieve it for the post. The more time I spent with the image, I realized it was the structure and incredible blue in the background that had been drawing me back.

Each of the images I have included here have something that drew me in. The pose or body angle, a speck of color or the models eyes or look. In the image above, it was the window, the broken window. Jon describes himself as an amateur with a lot of ideas and it is those ideas's, whether completed, or in process that create such interesting and unique vantage points.
