My enthusiasm for watching The Academy Awards has waned over the last few years.  Last year, I barely paid attention, skimming through and switching channels.  I am a fan of  Amy Schumer, and especially of Wanda Sykes,, so maybe this year will be different. 

But... it is Oscar weekend and my excitement for planning my FH Oscar themed post is still strong.  I've been doing Academy Award themed posts for over a decade and it's fun looking for, and checking out the nude scenes of the male nominee's. This year there was plenty to see.  Although I've seen only a few of the Oscar nominated films, I did manage, through my research for these post, catch a few older films starring some of the nominees.

I sort of remember watching St. Elsewhere when I was a kid but it was hen I got a little older that I really crushed over cast members David Morse and Denzel Washington. Although both actors went on to impressive film careers, it was Washington who became a movie star.  

With his nomination this year for Tragedy of Macbeth, Washington joins the list of most nominated Academy Award actors.  Although Meryl Streep tops the female list, Washington is listed along with; Paul Newman, Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Peter O'Toole, Dusting Hoffman, Jack Lemmon, Jack Nicholson, Spencer Tracy and Lawrence Olivier in the male best and best supporting categories. Washington is the only actor of color on the list. Washington has already won twice, once for Glory in 1990, and again for Training Day in 2002.

Given his impressive acting resume, I knew it was Mr. Washington's turn for my Actors & SKIN series.  Check it out on the NEXT PAGE HERE:

Martin & Lewis

I didn't really know much about Jerry Lewis or Dean Martin, but after seeing their nude shower shots, (thanks to the posters on DreamCap) I had to learn more.  Lewis and Martin met in the 40's and formed a performing duo. Lewis a comedian and Martin a singer performed on stage, in nightclubs, radio and eventually television.

I remember seeing old Jerry Lewis movies on late night television, but always found him incredibly annoying.  I did used to catch the Jerry Lewis telethon to catch some of my favorite celebrities.  I always associate the telethon with the starting of school as it used to air each September on Labour Day weekend. 

Martin I knew less about, but while researching this post caught a few moments from the Dean Martin roasts, which looked like a lot of fun.  Like the images of Pat Boone in the shower I posted last fall, (HERE:) I'm guessing these shots were outtakes from a Life Magazine photoshoot. The images were recently sold on e-bay for a fairly steep price.

Both Martin and Lewis have strong connections to the Oscars.  Martin was a frequent presenter and performed some of the best song nominee's.  Lewis hosted the show three times and in received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.in 2009.
