Signs of Spring 🌷

With winter turning to spring this week, today's posts are all focused on those early signs of spring.  Signs you can feel, signs you can almost feel, taste and feel, and of course, sign you can beautifully see.

Hunter McVey: Making Moves

'The moving van: a vessel carrying both dreams and belongings.'

Nothing says spring like a fresh start, and nothing says fresh start like a move.  It could be a move to a new home, a new job, or just a new you.  So many people move in the spring, not sure why.  I guess people avoid it in the dead of winter or during hottest months of summer.   I've moved so many times, I think I've hit every season, but my last move, maybe one of the biggest, was during the spring.

This post didn't start being about moving, it began as a 'favorites' post about the ultra hot Hunter McVey.  I've been saving my favorite shots of Hunter for awhile now, and when I started going through them, most were from this series.  These shots of Hunter, from creative director Silas Forest, were shot for 2(X)ist underwear.  You can check out the video on Hunter's Instagram HERE:

Strolled around NYC in my underwear… actually got paid for it this time...

Early Indicators: Chris by Studio1x

'My work with Jim has created some of my most favorite images of myself ever.'

The beginning of spring hits each of our senses. We feel the warmer temperatures, we hear the sounds of birds, we smell the freshness in the air.  Where I live, spring also means smelling the recently unthawed scent of manure.   Cow manure is actually quite pleasant, especially compared to chicken manure,  which can really be a shock to the nasal network.

Despite the increased sunlight and warmth, it's the visual early indicators of spring that for me are the most pronounced.  The budding trees, the return of butterflies and bees, and the emergence of flowers, beginning with crocuses.   Since FH is primarily about the visual, I wanted to kick off spring with some beautiful buds, roots, and petals.

Over the last year or so, I featured several shoots from Jim, (Studio1x) with hot models showing off their impressive stalks and stems.  Many of you remember my pieces featuring a blossoming Dex. (HERE:)   With spring on the way, I again got in contact with Jim, asking if he'd shot any other models in the process of germination...

Indeed Jim had, and sent on a huge series of shots of Chris with his spring stem coming to life and with the increased light, beautiful shooting up from his roots.  Chris is the perfect model to mark the beginning of the vernal season.  The last time we saw Chris, it was in a series hot shots that his boyfriend had taken. (HERE:

The first time Chris appeared on FH however, back in the spring of 2019, he, along with fellow model Jay, were having a bit of fun, doing a little erotic Easter egg painting. (HERE:)  This series of shots, is just one of many that I've seen from Chris and Jim's creative collaborations.  When I asked Chris about featuring the series, I was curious about his work with Jim, and how the flower theme first came about.

When did you first connect with Jim?
I think it was around 2017/2018!

What stuck out to you about his images?
I was enamored by how he captured the male form in such a unique way.

How many times have you worked with Jim?
I think 8? It’s been a lot! If we still lived in the same state, we could still collaborate. We have so many beautiful images that I’m still able to share new ones even today!

Did you and Jim discuss concepts or ideas prior to shooting?
We have definitely, especially in our later shoots. I would approach him with other images I saw on IG and asked if we could recreate them in our own way. He’s also pitched me ideas and I’ve been able to have a part in the creative process.

Whose idea was the flowers?
I think it was mine? I was inspired by a shoot another friend had done using flowers. It was my source of inspiration.

Did it help with poses to have a prop to hold?
At this point I’m comfortable with and without a prop. Props can help create more dynamic images if used correctly!

When you agree to a shoot, do you state any boundaries you might have beforehand?
Yes, I’m always explicit about what I am comfortable with and willing to do. I always add that it is subject change during a shoot. With Jim however, I usually end up doing more than I initially intend because he makes me comfortable.

Who was the most chatty during the shoot?
I would say both of us. There’s a lot of discussion back and forth as part of our collaborative process.

Did Jim have much direction, or did you just go with the flow?
I think Jim would tell you I don’t need much direction at this point with him lol.

What was the best part about working with Jim?
The collaboration and the trust. My work with Jim has created some of my most favorite images of myself ever.

If you had the chance to shoot with Jim again, what theme would you like to capture?
I feel like my vibe has changed since we last shot. I would like to do something even more high fashion and Avant-garde, and of course, more nudity! I feel like I would want to push myself even frothed with the nude photography to create images that are just breathtaking and stunning.

A Moist Playing Field

'The first day of spring training is like the first day of school.'

After a long winter of hibernating inside,  there's nothing more exciting, (and stressful) to an athlete, than spring training.  Sure, many still worked out during the winter, but there's nothing like getting back outside to really feel the spirit of your sport.

If any of you have played soccer, football, rugby or another outdoor field sport, you know there's nothing worse than a wet field.  Sometimes, games and practices have to be cancelled due to the moisture.  Sure, fields get wet in the summer after a rain, but it's at it's most moist, at the beginning of spring.

The frozen ground is melting below the surface, meaning it's not just wet on the surface, but deep into the earth.  Thankfully for us, it the grass had dried enough on this day, for the Beverly Rugby team to get out for their first spring practice.  So thrilled to be outside, the all stripped down to enjoy the sunny afternoon.  As you can see, the Beverly Rugby Calendar didn't edit out the brief flashes of frontal in their outtake images!
