Aaron Tveit
Fiyero: Broadway 2008
It wasn't Wicked that introduced me to Aaron Tveit, it was Next To Normal, the show he did the following year. After catching Aaron on the 2009 Tony Awards, I was on the hunt for more. On the Tony Awards, he did a weird mash-up with Stockard Channing who was starring in Pal Joey at the time. Still, the sight of Aaron in his jeans, and hearing his incredible voice was enough to seal to the deal.
Nothing matters
But knowing nothing matters
It's just life
So keep dancing through
When I began looking for more of Aaron's performance on Youtube, it was videos of his time in Wicked that I began to watch. Although Norbert Leo Butz was the first Fiyero I heard, Tviet was the first I saw, He was a sight in his boots and tight pants, especially dancing around in Dancing Through Life. Oh how many times I watched that video!
Problem was, Aaron's Wicked performances kept getting deleted from Youtube. I guess the show, or someone connected to the show or Aaron, didn't want them up. Finally I found them again, and downloaded them before they again disappeared. I guess enough time has passed, and with the movie in the can, people aren't as concerned as they were.
The videos have now mostly seem to have returned, including Aaron's
Dancing Through Life performance, which you can find on Youtube
HERE: In fact, when searching for today's theme, I found videos of most of the actors featured, mostly in performances of
Dancing Through Life and
As Long As Your Mine. If you fancy any of the actors over two Wicked themed posts, I'll bet you'll find them.
Although Norbert was my first, and will always hold a special place, I think Aaron's performances are some of my favorites. I've never seen Aaron in person, although I was tempted a return trip to New York to catch him Moulin Rouge! The Musical, but the one thing about Aaron you can count on... Whenever he leaves a show, another one is waiting in the wings.
