Favorite New Way To Wear A Shirt!

Blown by Richard Rothstein

I have a love/hate relationship with balloons, I love seeing the vibrant colors fully blown and used as decorations at birthdays and other celebrations. I do however dislike blowing them up myself. Blowing isn't something that usually gives me pause, but I always have trepidation that they might pop...

Some people I have learned have more of a love/shove relationship with the inflated latex. Balloonophilia wasn't a term, or a fetish, I was familiar to until recently. New York's Richard Rothstein uses the term to describe the many images that make up the balloon theme he uses with so many of his models.

'Helium-filled balloons have always struck me as very sensual. Balloons speak to the little boy in every man, but when I brought men and balloons together, this meeting OF MALE SEXUALITY AND INNER CHILD TRANSLATED INTO SOMETHING SENSUAL, AROUSING AND SLIGHTLY UNCOMFORTABLE and confusing, a story not quite clear, provocative.'

'As it turned out, most of the models FOUND THE EXPERIENCE SEXUALLY EXCITING; ONE INSISTED THAT GREEN BALLOONS IN PARTICULAR VERY MUCH RATTLED HIS LIBIDO. WE DIDN'T PHOTOGRAPH THE MOMENT, BUT HE HAD HIS WAY WITH SEVERAL OF THE GREEN BALLOONS. IT WAS QUITE INTERESTING TO WATCH. :) I never ask my models for an erection, but in this case, they consistently happened.'

Balloons are synonymous with celebrations, parties and joy. Birthday's, New Year's Eve, and anniversary are all events that usually require the air filled decoration. As with this series, Manhattan and it's many landmarks always play an important role in Richard's work. This week, New York, and much of the North East was dealt a might blow by Sandy. Richard's images seem especially fitting today to celebrate not only the streets and skies of Manhattan, but to celebrate the spirit of the city and the people who live there.

James Brolin in The Amityville Horror

Halloween is over, but there were a couple of posts that I did for yesterday I could not fit in, so 'bare' with me for just two more!

Yeah Josh is hot but it's James Brolin, (circa 1979) that is really the DILF. I had sadly not really known much about James as an actor and really only knew the Sr. Brolin as Barbara's Husband.

One of the movies I watched over Halloween was the original Amityville Horror. I had seen the Ryan Reynolds version, but as usual, the sequel paled in comparison after watching the original. Brolin, especially in his tighty whities, has me wanting to look for more of his work.

Giving Gourd Head!

In my recent post, featuring the work of Mount Photography, I talked about how masks can not only provide disguise and protection, but also illicit previously untapped bravery.

That must explain why every year so many people stick big sticky fruits on their heads and run naked through streets and towns. Fruit, yes fruit! Although many countries classify pumpkin as a vegetable, botanically speaking, pumpkin is a fruit. A member of the squash family, and, though it is treated like a vegetable, it is technically a fruit because it grows on a vine and contains seeds.

So this Halloween, Fruit up!

Surviving Sandy

Thinking of all my fellow East Coasters as Sandy blows by!

Both Presidential candidates sent on their best:

Obama cautioned everyone to be prepared for a storm he called big, powerful and serious! He went on to blame most of Sandy's wrath on his predecessor but encouraged us all to keep hope!

Romney encouraged everyone, but especially wealthy white men, to leave their beach houses immediately and encouraged everyone to relocate to their inland cottages or Manhattan townhouse to ride out the storm!

Favorite Face Of The Day: Tom Mezger

With his beautiful face, wavy brown hair and alluring hazel eyes, Tom Mezger immediately caught my eye. The 22 year old model, who hails from Sydney Australia, and not only models, is also an athlete, actor, musician and dancer.

As most young models understand, modeling and the arts are not a guarantee for career or financial Independence. Tom has also put his focus on education, speaks 5 Languages and has earned his Bachelor of Economics & Finance.

Halloween Countdown: HAPPY HALLO WEENIE by takeurpicture

I first profiled the work of Atlanta photographer Louis Grosemont this past April. (The Masculine Mystique) In that profile I talked about the artist's skill in capturing masculinity, not the visual or the obvious, the muscle and brawn, but the aura that exudes from from many men which in many ways transcend their appearance.

With all the time I put into FH, I don't have time to post about anything or anyone that I myself am not interested or passionate about. I try not to placate readers, but instead hope that the audience for the blog will be those who, for the most part, enjoy what I do. Louis Grosemont's motto for his work is similar and takes images he himself would want to see. Obviously we both have an affinity for fright night and Louis gathered some of my favorite of his models, pumpkins in hand, for some masculine macabre in his new Halloween themed shots.
