Favorite Dancer of the Day: Roberto Bolle
If you read this blog with any regularity, you know I love dancers. Life to me often comes down to balance and rhythm. Dancers overall seem to have these down to a sexy science. One of the worlds most famous dancers currently is Italian dancer Roberto Bolle. Roberto has been dancing since he was 7 and currently a principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre and also holds guest artist status with The Royal Ballet and La Scala Theatre Ballet, making regular appearances with both companies.
Although known in Italy, Roberto really grabbed attention worldwide the past 2 years not just for his dance talents but for his work with renowned photographers Bruce Weber, Annie Leibowitz and Milan Vukmirovic. Roberto went after the attention deliberately to help bring attention to the world of dance, usually ignored by most of mainstream media. Roberto may have been more successful than he even intented as the attention he has received has had both a positive and negative impact on Roberto.
Roberto has also been Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF since 1999. In 2006 he visited Sudan, spending time at schools and hospitals. As of June 2007, he had raised over $655,000 for education and health projects in Sudan. Be sure to check out Roberto's official site HERE:
