'Doesn't every daddy hang around the staircase nude with an erection? Or having a glass of wine in the living room nude? Or reading a newspaper in the kitchen nude? Or do the dishes with nothing but an apron on? In my fantasy world, yes.'
Who hasn't hung around by their staircase with an erection? I'm sort of guessing that many of you who check out FH certainly have.... I know I've had erections in pretty much every room of my house, often, with a hot daddy, if not actually in person, at least in my mind and in my fantasies.
It can be hard to find just the right imagery for Father's Day. Of course there are tons of sites and places to find images of hot daddies, but I love to showcases images that weave both the hot gay daddy with traditional themes and symbols from the holiday in June. When I was thinking of models who epitomize both the daddy and the day, I instantly thought of
Hansel Wellington.
I quickly got in touch with photographer Tom Nakielski (Lights On Studio) who has sort of become my 'holiday daddy' for the site. Tom and Handel's holiday collaborations have become an valuable part of FH's visual celebrations, going back to their first festive collaboration which I featured for Christmas back in 2015.
For some, the term daddy means old, but in reality, it just means older. A daddy figure can be anyone who sexually stimulates you, even if they're just a few years older. Daddy's are not so much connected to an age, but to role. A great daddy is not only a sexual partner, but a sexual mentor, someone who takes the lead, providing sexual guidance and encouragement to someone younger, often someone less sexually experienced. Many of us, from time to time, enjoy surrendering to someone more mature, someone who takes control, leading us to a place of carnal combustion and contentment.
Choosing a daddy was the easy part and Tom was up and enthusiastic about the idea. Shooting our daddy, and actually bringing it home, proved a bit of challenge, one that Tom more than conquered, even with more than a few obstacles... The concept was simple, Tom wanted to capture the moment your daddy arrives home. The daddy you've been waiting for all day, the daddy that comes in the door, slides out of his clothes, and relaxes and unwinds for your visual enjoyment.
Some of you may remember from previous posts, that Tom has experienced a few health issues over the last few years. Although his enthusiasm and creativity is as strong as ever, a few falls and health issues has made slowed him down a bit, especially when shooting outside of his studio. Tom's studio has no stairs, just a ramp, making it easy to access. For our hot daddy however, Tom wanted a home, and a grand one to boot. Tom planned the shoot at his friend Patrick's house, and old Victorian he's renovated and restored. The problem with old Victorian's... lots and lots and stairs.
The night before the session I was having my doubts about doing the session. What would take me normally a couple of trips to the car to load up for the studio now would take 4 or more slow trips to the car. Then I knew that I had to concur the high steps to enter the home. They were a challenge when I shot at the home a couple of years ago and my legs have become weaker since then.
When I arrived, Patrick met me in at the van. The first thing I said was that this may be my swan song. Well, both Patrick (the home owner) and Hansel were there to make sure it all went smoothly. They moved furniture, and lights. Patrick is an artist and he was constantly vigilant about how the objects in the background lined up and also knew I am always wanting to be sure the lighting was correct. Hansel made sure I didn't have to do anything that would strain me or make me lose my balance.
We started out with him arriving home from work/school? I wanted Hansel to have a briefcase to carry. Patrick had a doctors medical bag so we decided at that point that Hansel would be either a doctor or a med student. From then on we went around the house doing things a dad may done at home. Relaxing with a glass of wine. Drinking some morning coffee while reading the newspaper. He is well read so we had him reading books by the fireplace and in the living room. Shaving was also part of the agenda.
The bathroom shots were a challenge. Not much room for supplemental lights or even a reflector. The colors were funky but I will rationalize that this gives it a more at home natural snapshot look. Talk about rationalizing, the low light situation resulted in grainy and soft images and my thoughts are that this gives it a more moody look suitable for an old historical home. Of course we needed nude shots. Doesn't every doctor hang around the staircase nude?
With Patrick and Hansel's assistance, the session actually went better then I anticipated. With their help, I had a good time and have been encouraged to keep on photographing......with a little help from my friends. Hansel turned out to be the perfect choice to play the dad.
