Defying Gravity...

'Yes I can drive a stick!'

I love the story of the witches stairs.  I first read, and saw images of the stairs a few  years ago.  The urban legend is that the stairs were built in 17th-century Massachusetts, during the Salem witch trials, to ward off witches.  It was said that witches could not walk up the particular sequence of steps.

Of course since witches can fly, the legend didn't make a whole lot of sense.  It did however, make a whole lot of fun.  The stairs were actually made in an attempt to save space.  I'm guessing there were more than a few Puritans who had some nasty falls.   Maybe the witches did have a hand, or a spell, on their design...

Borrow The Moonlight

'I feel Wicked....'

Like so many musicals that I love, my introduction of Wicked came through the soundtrack.  Long before I saw the show, I had already fall in love with the original Broadway cast through the talents of Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth and Norbert Leo Butz.  Although Fiyero, (Butz) doesn't have many songs in the show, his two main numbers are favorites.

In the Broadway musical, Fiyero Tiggular is a Winkie prince and the love interest of Elphaba.  As I'm guessing most, (all) of you know, Jonathan Bailey was cast as Fiyero for the upcoming big screen version.  I struggled with the casting of Elphaba and Glinda, but I was fully on board with Bailey as Fiyero.

My First Fiyero:

Actor Norbert Leo Butz originated the role of Fiyero on Broadway, and it was his voice that I listened to hundreds of time while playing the cast recording.    Butz has been a fixture on Broadway since 1996 when he made his debut in Rent.   Other notable stage roles include turns in; Cabarete, Carousel, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, My Fair Lady and Catch Me If You Can.

Although Butz was the first Fiyero, since the show opened on Broadway, there have been hundreds of actors who've taken on the role.  On Broadway, The West End, touring companies, and productions all across the globe.  Check out a selection of over 30 of my favorite Fiyero's  HERE: & HERE:

Joe Locke: Hex Appeal!

The road is wild and wicked, winding through the wood
Where all that's wrong is right and all that's bad is good
Through many miles of tricks and trials, we'll wander high and low
Tame your fears, a door appears, the time has come to go

This past September, I did a post on actor Josh Stamberg, (HERE:) I was introduced to Josh after finally watching WandaVision.  I really didn't have any interest in watching WandaVision, I tend to avoid most Marvel related shows and movies.  I did however, hear about Agatha All Along, and wanted to watch the series that introduced the character onto the canvas.

Agatha All Along has been the making for awhile, I think I started hearing about the show about a year ago.  The main shooting actually filmed in January, with some reshoots going into the spring in preparation for it's premiere this fall.  Although WandaVision was a bit of a slow burn, Agatha All Along had me from the get go.  A great cast, and a focused story that brings the entire coven together on a dangerous adventure.

The entire cast is perfect, led by the great Kathryn Hahn.  Most of the cast have had stand out moments, including last weeks episode that really spotlighted Patti Lupone and the incredible line delivery of Sasheer Zamata.  The only male in the main cast is actor Joe Locke, and every week we learn more about 'teen' and his connection to the story.

I won't give any spoilers, but let's just say that I'm glad now that I watched WandaVision prior to starting this show.  Agatha All Along is really my introduction to Locke.  I've been planning on watching Heartstopper for awhile now, but regretfully kept putting it off.  The show has three seasons though, so after Agatha ends next week, I'll make Heartstopper the show for my annual winter binge.

Horror Hunks: Edward Bluemel in A Discovery of Witches

It begins with absence and desire. It begins with blood and fear. It begins with A Discovery Of Witches.

You had e at witches!  A few months ago, someone on Twitter was talking about the show A Discovery of Witches.  I'd never heard of the British fantasy drama, but two things had me want to check it out.  First, it was about witches, and second it starred actor Matthew Goode.  I love me some Matthew Goode, and he is beautifully dangerous a d sexy as vampire Matthew Clairmont.

Once the world was full of wonders, but it belongs to the humans now. We, creatures, have all but disappeared. Daemons... vampires... witches... hiding in plain sight. Ill at ease even with each other. But, as my father used to say, in every ending, there is a new beginning.

The show is a bit of a slow burn, and it took me a few episodes to get into it, but it's beautifully shot, and the story was intriguing enough to keep me watching.  I have to say I think the female lead Diana, played by Teresa Palmer may have been the wink link.  I'm not if it was her acting or the writing, but as the most powerful witch, she was also a tad bland....

There were enough great supporting actors to make up for it however, including actor Edward Bluemel  as Marcus Whitmore.  Marcus is Matthew's vampire son, and also works with him in the University lab.  Edward is a great actor, and I wish he'd more to do, but I always perked up when he was on screen.

Edward has been having quite a successful few years, especially on television.  In addition to his role in A Discovery of Witches, Edward has also appeared in Sex Education and Killing Eve.  I'm guessing some of you also remember Edward from his role, and his nude scenes from My Lady Jane.  If not, enjoy a few below.
