12 Days: Jeffrey Dean Morgan in P.S. I Love You
'Sometimes there's only one thing left to say.'
I know, the actual Irish actor in 2007's P.S I Love You is Gerard Butler, (Gerry) but it's actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, (William) who has the nude scene. If you haven't seen the movie, it's a little difficult to describe. After Gerry dies, his wife Holly (Hilary Swank) embarks on an adventure, in part, led by letters left by Gerry.
The adventure includes a trip to Gerry's homeland of Ireland. It's in an Irish pub that Holly meets William. They don't know it at first, but William turns out to be one of Gerry's childhood friends, something they find out after having sex. Morgan is incredibly hot as William, including the Irish accent he uses for the film.
Like so many, I first began lusting after Morgan during his turn as Denny on Grey's Anatomy. Although I'd watched the show prior to his arrival, his storyline really drew me in. Morgan's role on another series, The Walking Dead, actually helped draw me out of watching the series. Although I love horror and can handle violence, some of the torture scenes due to his character Negan had me tuning out.

One of the most interesting things about holiday symbols, is their ability to make something special out of something mundane. Take evergreens... Many of us see hundreds, even thousands of them every day. We pass by them as we speed down the highway, paying little to no attention. At Christmas however, we seek out the perfect one to decorate in our living rooms.
Most of the year, we give little thought to bunnies, reindeer or turkeys. Then, on 'the' day, we hang big cardboard cutouts of them on our walls. Except for those Autumn holiday pies, few of us shop for pumpkins during the rest of the year.
Then there's the clover. Technically a herb, for most of us, and for the most of the year, the clover is simply a weed. An annoying addition to lawns that many home owners attempt to get rid of. Clovers blend so well into gardens and lawns that you can't really even see them unless your a few inches away.
On St. Patrick's Day however, this weed, especially the four-leaf variety, is celebrated. It hangs on our walls, around our necks, it's on banners, hats and St. Paddy's Day t-shirts. For model and photographer Luke G, a crown of clover made the perfect decorative crop for his St. Patrick's Day self-shoot.
Luke has created several holiday themed shoot for FH and this series is definitely one of my favorites. I love Luke's outside winter shoots, and like that clover on St. Paddy's Day, Luke's beautiful body always stands out, especially in a sea of snow. The addition of his green velvet jacket, and a dash of clover, were all Luke need to embrace the spirit and feel of the holiday.

It seems you blend in, with so many other ordinary things

Like flashy sparkles in the water, or stars in the sky
As both Ray Charles and Kermit the Frog san, it's not that easy being green. In nature, with so many things being green, it's sometimes difficult for greenish things to stand out. On St. Paddy's Day however, at the tail end of winter, green is one of the most beautiful sights to behold. The first leaves on the tree's, the first crocus buds in the garden, like St. Paddy's Day itself, the greens in March are the most beautiful signs of spring.
It's not that easy finding green during the winter, especially if the desired green is on St. Patrick's Day decorations. The date for this holiday shoot was early January. Model Michael Moody was in Michigan on business for a few days, and photographer Tom Nakielski (Lights On Studio) didn't want to miss his window of opportunity to shoot.
Michael had a particular theme in mind, but Tom suggested they save some time to salute the Emerald Isle. Finding St. Paddy's Day decorations in January however, proved to be a difficult task. Most of the dollar and decoration stores were pushing their Valentine products, not to mention the half price sales of the Christmas and New Year decorations they were still trying to get rid of.
'I knew I wanted to shoot for St. Patrick's Day, but wasn't sure what theme to do for the session. Part City is where I often get some props for my sessions but it was too early in the season and they did not have any St Patrick's items on display yet. Since they specialize in balloons, it was a natural progression to go with the balloon idea. Kind of like the old time vaudeville strippers.'
The timing for the shoot also corresponded with a surge in the omicron variant, so both Michael and Tom were Covid conscious during the shoot. Both kept their masks on, with Michael only removing his when Tom's camera was clicking. As you can see the green really popped, and Michael is such a great performer, he really went with the theme and seemed to have a lot of fun with the balloons and props that Tom did manage to pull together.
I love Tom's work with Michael and the energy Michael brings when in front of the camera. I've been fortunate to have featured several of their collaborations over the last few years. (HERE:) I'm hoping to feature the non-holiday portion of this shoot, a cowboy theme, in the future. In the meantime however, those green balloons had bit of dual purpose.
