Mike Faist in Challengers

'Faist nails the difficult role of the nice guy who is strong and loyal but might not be tough enough to withstand the wringer that the other two characters seem like they’re about to put him through.'

The quote above comes from a review of Challengers by critic Matt Zoller Seitz on Robert Ebert's site.  I posted some promotional images from the film earlier in the week (HERE:)  At the time, although I tried, I hadn't yet seen the film.  Since then, I noticed it was on demand, so was able to watch last evening.

I really enjoyed it, especially the level of sexual tension in so many of the scenes on the court. The churro scene was a bit of a disappointment, given all the hype, but each time any combination of  the three leads were on screen together, erotic intensity ensued.

All three main cast members, Zendaya, Mike Faist and Josh O'Connor were great, but I think it was Faist's turn as Art that really drew me in.  I'm a firm believer that with most films or television shows, there is one character that pulls you in.  There are many reasons this happens, most often because there's something about the character you identify with, even if you don't initially see it.

I thought Art, (Mike Faist) was the emotional center in the film, and the character I most identified with.  Although I'm gay, I was in a major love triangle with a woman in the center, and I wasn't always so nice when it came to the other guy in the triad.  Not only did I find Art the emotional core, I thought he was one of the only characters to show much emotion.  It wasn't that that the other actors and characters weren't emotional, but it was hidden a bit by their drive to win and their obsession with the game.

It was nice to see Faist get a chance to shine.  Although he's put some great performances on stage and in film, he's not always given his due.  Having played Riff in West Side Story, the character often gets lost in the hype.  It doesn't help that Riff is killed off at the end of the first act.  In Challengers however, he's on equal footing with his co-stars, and for me, his performance really pulled the story together.

Blast From The Past: Joe Rogan, circ 1990's

Joe : Wow, Dave is gay?
Matthew : No, no, Dave is Canadian!

Ok, first off, let's be clear, I know Joe Rogan is a douche.  I know about his racist and antisemitic comments, his comments on the trans community and his dangerous comments about Covid.  Rogan's comments got so bad, that legends like Neil Young and Joni Mitchell asked for their music to be remove from Spotify, in large part, because of Rogan.

Rogan by Barry King

All of that aside though, I've been watching NewsRadio, and despite trying to resist, I have been drawn to Rogan and his character, also named Joe.  Last month, I featured Dave Foley,  (HERE:) and I today I'm featuring feature Rogan.  Not the Rogan of today, the vile right wing spotlighting bigot, but Rogan, the actor from the late 1990's.

In addition to Rogan's great body, I love 'Joe's' wardrobe on NewsRadio. The wardrobe department put him mostly in tight jeans, with an array of shirts I'd kill to have hanging in my closet.  The show also found several opportunities to get Rogan out of his shirts, and even in one scene, out of his pants.

NewsRadio

I started watching NewsRadio a month or two ago, but have started to get a little bored.  The first season and half were great, but the show seems to be getting a little lazy, not a good sign so early in it's run.  It's also hard watching Phil Hartman, knowing he's so close to the end of his life.   The entire cast is great though, and often save some of the weaker scripts with their talent and charisma.

Although Rogan showed a bit of skin on the sit-com, he's never really done an 'official' nude scene in any of his acting roles.  He did however, show his ample ass on the 1997 VHS Music and Fashion awards.  I'd seen the caps, but had never seen the video.  Thanks to poster kalilover from DreamCap, you can check it out for yourself below.

Kyle Stillie: The Hot Scot

Yes, below deck Kyle Stillie likes to be naked.  So much so, he's giving the show's censors quite a bit of extra work.  So much so, he on shipmance is constantly telling him to keep his pants on.  In this past week's episode, Kyle went bowling in a kilt, and flashed both is front, and his back side for all to see.  Even his butt had to be blurred due to the amount of spread on display.

Kye's hottness sort of grew on me.  I noticed his toned, hot body right away, but it was his personality that really hooked me in.  We knew we'd be seeing quite a bit of Kyle's behind when the 'this season' on Below Deck, (below) previewed a few of Kyle's full moons.

Not only are the show's censors getting a work out, but the purple eggplant emoji is also getting a lot of airtime.  It's quite a sizable vegetable they're using to cover Kyle and maybe one day we get the full Monty, without the purple covering.

Below: Kyle's Instagram post about how he and his friends all got matching butt tattoos.

Below: The crew plays a prank on Kyle, giving him a pair of dissolving shorts on a crew's day out. Kyle shared the video, and more of the purple eggplant on his social media.
