Paddy's Cakes

It wouldn't be St. Paddy's day without some of Paddy's cakes. The mouth watering cakes in this case are the tale end of model and porn star Paddy O'Brian. The perfect remedy when you've downed a few too many green beers.

Moe Dunford in Patrick's Day

'Love is Madness'

There aren't too many St. Patrick's Day themed movies, there are a few like The Quiet Man people watch but this year, I was craving something a little different. I started out thinking of some of my favorite Irish actors, hoping one of the them might lead me to a film I hadn't heard about. This is exactly what happened when I visted the Instagram page model and actor Eoin Macken. On Eoin's page was the poster (above) for Patrick's Day. Eoin is not in the film, but his praise of the film, 'Fucking powerful.' and the poster had me wanting to find out more.

'Patrick is a warm, open, twenty-six year old virgin schizophrenic. Pills and his mother’s (Kerry Fox) protection mean he is no threat to himself or anyone else. Until he falls in love. The object of his desire, Karen, a suicidal flight attendant, has no idea the intimacy she shares with Patrick might reintroduce her to living. Patrick’s obsessive mother Maura doesn’t realize her own misguided love may be more dangerous than hate. '

Dunford in Vikings

The Patrick in writer and director Terry McMahon's Patrick's Day is played by Moe Dunford and his journey gripped from the opening credits, and Damien Dempsey's 'St. Patrick's Day song that helps introduce Patrick's who's attending a St. Paddy's Day parade at the beginning of the film. Soon Patrick runs into Karen who not only helps him lose his virginity, but also ultimately...his mind. Irish actor

Moe Dunford lives up Eoin Macken's praise with a powerful performance that is incredibly real, as well as both haunting and inspiring. McMahon's direction is unflinching in it's depiction of both the power, and brutality of love. If you want to watch Patrick's Day yourself, you can rent it on Youtube HERE:
