Every Single Second: David A Anderson by Stephen Kahrs

This past spring I was fortunate to come across the work of Connecticut based photographer Stephen Kahrs. In my first profile of Stephen's work, (Masculine Sensuality)I noted how masterfully the artist brought out the model's unique features, tailoring pose, lighting and overall concept to best capture the person in front of his lens.

Although 23 year old David A Anderson has a completely different look than the previous model that I featured, from body type to overall presence in front of the camera, the skill Stephen brings to his work create similar and fantastic results. There are many photographers who have signature styles and shots, and model after model are put in the same pose, with the same lighting and set. Stephen's choices, from framing, lighting and wardrobe are designed specifically for David leading to an outstanding array of images.

David A Anderson says he has been modeling for about three years but has gotten more serious about the past 12 months. Besides modeling, he has recently branched out into acting and has gotten positive feedback for his work so far. David has a incredibly strong look with his olive skin, beautiful lips and magnificent, piercing blue eyes. His distinctive facial structure and incredible body provides creates a perfect package for displaying any fashion or clothes that he puts on, or takes off.

'I've had a deep desire to model ever since i was a teenager. I wanted to be that guy on the cover of the fitness magazine. Although I still want this to happen, I have also expanded into more fashion and lifestyle shoots along with catalog. I now also have some acting experience which i just think is a riot! I'm meeting new, like minded people constantly and enjoying every single second.'
David A Anderson

Stephen first met David in August 2011 through a Facebook group they both belonged to that was designed to bring photographer's and model's together for a day of shooting. Stephen recalls how pleasant and cordial David was on their first meeting was and how strikingly handsome he was. If you look through Stephen's portfolio's you will see many pictures of David as he was one of the artists favorite models to collaborate with.

'I've had the opportunity to shoot with him three times thus far. I enjoy working with him mostly because he can effortlessly give you a fitness, editorial, and I've even seen some fine art shots that he's done for other photographers. I find him quite versatile and puts everything into whatever you present to him. He's given the ball and he gives everything to reach the goal. You don't find that in a lot of models and often times you spend a lot of energy carrying them through the shoot.'
Stephen Kahrs

Both Model and photographer enjoyed their work together and produced a large number of images, sadly, not all I could fit in. There were some beautiful black & whites and a few James Bond themed shots. Hopefully they might lead to a follow up!

'Stephen and I have worked together a few times and he has always gone above and beyond to make me happy. He retouches tons of photos quickly and I almost always get the cd within a week which is awesome as it takes hours and hours to do. I don't know how he finds the time. With the cd he even sends Polaroid images with some of the photos he liked just because. He has tons of different outfits that I loved and wanted to take some home with me! The man has countless ideas with poses and places to shoot and is just a real stand up guy. If you ever have a chance to shoot with him you should jump at the opportunity!'

Fall Show I am most Anticipating: Arrow

I am generally not a fan of cult or sci/fi television. I liked Smallville and did love Buffy The Vampire Slayer, but usually superheroes and ghost busters don't hold my attention for long.

This seasons fall television season came for me with little excitement. Mostly the same ole same ole with nothing yet that has sparked my interest. With the exception of Season 2 of American Horror Story, the ads are down right creepy, it is the CW's Arrow that has me waiting for it's debut on October 10th

I love followed actor Stephen Amell since the beginning of his career, especially his start on Canadian filmed and produced productions. His brief, and naked, appearance on Dante's Cove remains memorable and I look forward to him bringing his considerable masculine attributes in his role as a queen, Oliver Queen.

Autumn's Anatomy

So I have posted about Stephen Amell (above) and Taylor Kinney (below) but there are a few new, and familiar faces coming our way this fall I wanted to give a little attention too.

Chord Overstreet, Glee, FOX

I never had any doubt Chord would be a regular on Glee, last seasons drama with his leaving seemed more about publicity that reality. With two episodes and no sign of Mercedes, Mike, Finn, Quinn or Coach Beiste (and Santana and Puck having mere cameos) the only consolation in the choir room is getting to see Sam. Not sure the producers understand it is the mix of the cast together fans most want to see. All that aside though, I am embarrassed to admit anytime the commercial for this weeks episode came on I ran from whatever I was doing for a second or two of Overstreet abs.

Justin Harley, Emily Owens M.D. (The CW)

Despite his popularity playing Oliver Queen on Smallville, the CW chose to cast another in their re-boot of the show. Actor Justin Hartley was not unemployed for long however as he has been cast in Emily Owens M.D. Now I am sure star Mamie Gummer is tired of all the questions about her mother, but there is a quality they both share that I have seen in some Mamie's previous screen roles, and that quality, or talent is more than enough, along of course with Justin, to have me interested in paying this doctor a visit.

Jonny Lee Miller, Elementary, CBS

Johnny Lee Miller has been a favorite actor of mine since first seeing him in Hackers and Trainspotting. I am not sure I have the time to watch another television show, but I plan on adding Elementary to the DVR.

Malcolm Freberg, Survivor (CBS)

Not sure if it is the long hair down, or the long hair pulled back, but thus far the most appealing man walking the beaches on Survivor is Malcolm Freberg. Hopefully he will soon ditch the showmance and start playing the game. Watching Lisa Whelchel (Blair, The Facts Of Live) trying to maneuver her way through the social part of the game is also an fascinating glimpse into the challenges of being an adult, but no longer child star.

Brandon Routh, Partners (NBC)

Initially when I read actor Brandon Routh was cast as Michael Urie's boyfriend on NBC's Partners I felt a little bad for him. In 2006, Routh won the role of Superman in Bryan Singer's big screen re-make, Superman Returns. But, being an actor means many openings and closings and with Superman returning to the big screen with actor Henry Cavill, it was necessary for Routh to find another opening. I liked the pilot of Partners, liked it, didn't love it. The show had plenty of heart, but the writing and jokes seemed more suited for TGIF circa 1991. Michael Urie, so great on Ugly Betty, hams it up here, often more than needed, taking away from some of the shows more poignant moments. Routh's incredible looks aside, his few scenes were highlights and I hope he doesn't become the forgotten member of the cast.

GymImage: Naked In New Hope

One of the most popular posts last year on FH was photographer Bill Donlen's (GymImage)images of the incredible Julian Jiamachello (A Walking Botticelli). If your in Pennsylvania, in the New Hope area, Bill currently has two images on display in 2012's Naked In New Hope 2012 at the Sidetracks Art Gallery.

Be sure to check out and preview Bill's new book, Dream Shoot - Cape Cod which can be found on Blurb HERE:

Hiatus:

I have been planning on taking a short break when FH hit it's 5th anniversary next month. After fighting through bloggers improvements today, I think I will begin my break now. I am not sure why blogger/facebook and other sites are constantly screwing with what works. Most people hate the changes, but we are but small voices and our feelings are generally ignored. Today's posts took me three times the usual time it usually takes to post and though I guess we all get used change eventually, I am not sure I want to get used to yet another change... I may pop in with the odd post now and then but for now I am on a short hiatus.

The Big Boys: Patrick Michael by Sean Cooper

I first featured the work of Sean Cooper last month when I profiled his work with model Dakota Askins (The Preserver). As most of of you know, FH is all about story and creating story is also core to Sean' work as he utilizes a photojournalist approach within his shoots to visualize and create the story he wants to share.

'The honest truth was I wanted to see if I could produce something that had the same visual style and lighting as "the big boys" . It took some Internet research to figure out how to do, but after I got it set up, it was smooth sailing.'

The ' big boys' that Sean is referring to are the company's and sites that dominate the male sex and erotica Internet market.  Sean was going for a sort of a SeanCody/CorbinFisher vibe, presenting models in a way that has the viewer wanting see, and find out more, about the men with the images.  23 year old Patrick Michael certainly has the viewer wanting to see, and find out more.  New to modeling, Patrick has an incredible body, thanks in part to his work as a personal trainer which puts his focus on health, wellness and fitness.

'Patrick was a great model - easy to work with, laid back, not too shy. He has a fantastic physique, which you can see, so he'd probably do really well on set of one of those productions. When I shot this, his girlfriend came along with him and was encouraging him. She helped out a bunch and really enabled him, and I think she also helped him feel more comfortable. Pat and I have been talking recently and he's very eager to do some more modeling work. When I'm in Upstate NY, we've got plans to get together and do another awesome shoot.'
