Brumal is Brewing: Victor by Bob Burkhardt

'This entire shoot was a dream.'

I recently found myself watching the pilot of Game Of Thrones.  I say 'found myself' as I didn't really plan on it, but while skimming my streaming services, saw the cover art for the first season.  It's been awhile since I watched and had forgotten some of the stories and characters in the show's early episodes.

Why you might ask, am I referencing this particular television show for this post, well, it's most classic line of course.  'Winter is Coming' first said by Ned Stark in the pilot, became trademark catchphrase for the show.  In part, I think of the symbolism of hardship ahead.  It is also something very relatable for so many who experience harsh winters.  Where I live, there are four distinct seasons, and we begin preparing, and especially talking, about seasons as they approach.

Summer is already slipping away and signs of Autumn, and even winter, are already in the air.  They're also annoyingly in the stores.  Given my passion for each unique season, FH viewers know I follow the weather, and the seasonal visuals on the site.  My 'seasonal sightings' themed posts are maybe the most visible example, but I also try to shadow the seasons in my photographer and models features.

I rarely post beach, or summer related posts in the Autumn and winter, and when I post a location shoot, the photographers and nude models are usually battling the cold, surrounded by fall foliage and the elements of winter.  It was for this reason, Brumal, (wintery) is brewing inspired the choice of images for today's feature post.

This past March, I had the pleasure of spotlighting photographer Bob Burkhardt and his work with Canadian model Victor. (All Good Things...)  I savored being introduced to Bob's work with Victor and was loved seeing they'd gotten together to shoot again this past summer.   Bob often shoots the male form utilizing the natural light from the windows in his studio. For this shoot however, I also loved seeing the shadows from the sky and tree's, and the warmth from the sun cascading over Victor's beautiful body and unique colors within his body art.

The first time Bob and Victor collaborated, it was during the dead of winter, so the images in the first piece were all shot in Bob's studio.  For this midsummer shoot, they were able to venture outside to soak up the sun and shadows of a warm summer afternoon. The second shoot wasn't limited to only the outside location,.  Bob and Victor also again shot in studio, and in a few unique locations that I'm looking forward to featuring later.  With Brumal a brewing however, I wanted to feature this set before the September equinox arrives.

How did the second shoot come about?

We both enjoyed working together on our first shoot and Victor, who is beginning his modeling career, expressed an interest in working together again

After our first shoot together, I loved the experience of working with Bob so much that a second shoot was inevitable .I might have even mentioned it before our first shoot was over haha. I'm glad Bob felt the same way!

What did you want accomplish in this shoot you didn't in the first?

Bob
I've often found my second shoots with a model to better. We both know each other and are more relaxed. This shoot felt more intimate.

Victor:
We discussed shooting outdoors, so the plan was for me to arrive during nicer summer weather - our first time earlier this year was in February, and it was winter and more overcast. We also planned to take more erotic photos.

Did you notice any differences in working together from the first to the second shoot?

Bob:
I noticed Victor was more confident and relaxed. His modeling skills had improved. Definitely more smiles this shoot.

Victor:
Yes! Bob mentioned I was a lot more at ease with the camera and I think it definitely shows. We had a lot of fun with our erotic shots and experimented with different ideas (some didn't turn out photos-wise, like inserting a chain necklace up my hole). It was still a lot of fun to try and the majority of the photos were a success.

Where did the outside shoot take place?

Bob:
The outdoor shoot was at a friend's home. I'd shot there once before. It's hard to find outdoor locations where one can do outdoor work. The only downside was that it got very hot, very quickly. We only shot for about 20 mins.

Victor:
The idea of shooting outdoors was my request, so Bob did his best to find an arrangement that would allow that to happen. A good friend of his was lovely and let us use his lush backyard as our space. It was a contained environment so we didn't have to consider prying eyes.

What was your favorite moment or part of this shoot with Victor.

Bob:
This entire shoot was a dream. Victor, who lives in Calgary, stayed with us for three days. It was like having a model on call. We could shoot in different locations in my house and different times of the day. And again, we were both more comfortable with each other. We have plans to shoot again next year, here and in Provincetown

Victor:
I loved Bob's classic natural light shots in his bedroom studio, and the rapport I've built with him has been my favorite part. I hope to do a third shoot with him next year at a nude beach in Provincetown.

Favorite Import of the Day: Johann Jürgens

So many of my posts are inspired by seeing images and stories on other sites.  I'll see an image, and head straight to IMDB or Google to find out more about the actor, movie or scene.  That's exactly what happened last week when on Dreamcap.   DC is one of my favorite places to visit each day, and has inspired many posts on the site.

The post in question last week, was the DC thread, Naked on Stage.  The poster was Charles, who has introduced me to many hotties, movies and scenes over the years.  This time, it was German actor Johann Jürgens and the images Charles' posted were from his role in the 2013 stage production of Gladow-Bande. (The Gladow Gang)

Jürgens wasn't just completely nude on stage, he was the lone naked actor in the scene.  In addition to his beautiful body, I enjoyed the cmnm / cfnm elements to the scene, and to the images.  Normally, I don't like to feature nude scenes from stage play if they were taken by someone in the audience with a camera phone.  These shots however, were official productions stills taken for promotional and archival purposes.

The beautiful and talented Jürgens, completed his acting training at the Theaterakademie Zinnowitz and later at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts. From 2008 to 2013, he was a permanent member of the ensemble under Armin Petras at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin..  In addition to his theater work, Jürgens can be seen in several television and cinema film productions, including the Sky series Babylon Berlin, in which he also appeared nude.  In addition to acting, Johann Jürgens is also a musician, singer and songwriter.

It was in 2013 that Jürgens played Werner Gladow at the  Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin.  Written by Michael Bienert. when the light blue curtain opened to the stage, a movie screen patched with patterned curtains and bedsheets becomes visible. Newsreel images of devastated post-war Berlin flicker across it. A crazy submachine gunfight straight out of an Al Capone film flickers across the screen. The legendary mafia boss was something of a surrogate father figure for the young Werner Gladow/

Werner Gladow was still a student when he shot his way to becoming a gangster boss. At the age of 18, Gladow was responsible for 127 serious crimes, two murders, 15 attempted murders, robberies, and numerous other offenses. After a sensational trial, he ends up under the guillotine, convicted under a reactivated Nazi-era law. Gladow, the self-proclaimed Al Capone of Berlin.who, along with his gang, made post-war Berlin unsafe. Gladow was fourteen when the war ended; at nineteen, he was beheaded as a dangerous felon.

Babylon Berlin (2017-2022)

As mentioned,  also appeared nude during his 10 episode run on the German neo-noir television series Babylon Berlin. Jürgens portrayed medical student Rudolf (Rudi) Malzig in the period crime drama,.  Interesting, that again, Jürgens' is the only nude actor in his scenes, again weaving in the cmnm /cfnm elements I love so much in nude scenes.
