Jeff Bridges: ACTORS & Skin

I was introduced to Jeff Bridges after my parents rented King Kong for one of our family video, then VHS, nights.   As I stated in the previous post, when first watching the flick, I didn't really pay much attention to the actor.  I must have been about 10 or 11 and like the large Ape, I was infatuated with the beauty of Jessica Lange.  I also liked the story, and except for maybe seeing a few images in magazines, don't remember seeing a movie like it before.

I do remember a few years later seeing Bridges butt while again watching a rented film, this time 1984's Starman.  It wasn't until I got a bit older, that I really began to appreciate Bridges' talent, and his sex appeal.  I think the next Bridges film I saw, thanks to TCM, was The Last Picture Show.   Again, I never really knew much about the film, until hearing it discussed by the characters on Dawson's Creek.  That had me wanting to watch it when it aired on TCM, and do a post about it, and actor Timothy Bottoms. (HERE:)

Over the last decade or so, my love of older films has become a bit of a passion, and I've now seen many of Bridges big screen performances.   Some of my favorites are not necessarily his biggest, or most popular films, but they're ones I really enjoyed.  Some of my favorites include Jagged Edge, The Mirror Has Two Faces, The Door in the Floor and Winter Kills.

I also really loved Bridges' turn as the kidnapper in 1992's The Vanishing with Sandra Bullock and Kiefer Sutherland.  I remember watching that film on television and really being caught up in the tense drama.  I know some of Bridges' other performances should be on this list, but for some reason, I've never seen The Big Lebowski, or White Squall for that matter.  They are on my list however, of films to watch.

I've also gone back and watched Bridges turn as Jack Prescott in 1976's King Kong.  During my recent viewing, I certainly took notice of the actor, and his rugged good looks.  He looks especially hot with long hair as he's trying to win over Jessica Lange from the rather powerful, and hairy third in their love triangle.

Check out the three posts below for Bridges' nude scene resume from the 70's, 80's and early 2000's.

Actors & SKIN: Jeff Bridges, the 1970's

Although there was some nudity in 1971's The Last Picture Show, it was a few years later in The Last American Hero that Jeff Bridges gave us our first flash his beautiful butt.

 Last American Hero (1973)

'A young hellraiser quits his moonshine business to try to become the best NASCAR racer the south has ever seen.'

Rancho Deluxe (1975)

'Two drifters, of widely varying backgrounds, rustle cattle and try to avoid being caught in contemporary Montana.'

I wasn't going to use Bridges' nude scene in 1975's Rancho Deluxe, as I'm guessing it's a body double.  It's his only full frontal, and it's oddly filmed.  After making love in the woods, Bridges' character puts on a mask before streaking through the woods and across a field.  But... it is a nude scene and the dog mask is very 'pup' like.

Winter Kills (1979)

'The younger brother of an assassinated US President is led down a rabbit hole of conspiracies and dead ends after learning of a man claiming to be the real shooter.'

My favorite Bridges' butt scene has to be his extended bottom baring in 1979's Winter Kills.  Bridges looks great, and I also really enjoyed the film.

Actors & SKIN: Jeff Bridges, The 1980's

Actor Jeff Bridges bared his bottom twice in 1984.  Both are quick, darkly, lit scenes, but both certainly still worth a mention.

Starman

An alien takes the form of a young Wisconsin widow's husband and makes her drive him to his departure point in Arizona. Distrustful government agents, along with a more ambivalent scientist, give pursuit in hopes of intercepting them.

1984's Starman was the second Jeff Bridges film that I saw, probably when I was 10 or 11 when we rented it on VHS in the late 80's.   What sticks out to me about the film, is it was one of only about 4 movies one of my aunts, who was single, owned on video.  The other 3 were Disney films.  Looking back, I'm not sure if it was because of the fantasy, science fiction elements, or Bridges quick flash of buttocks.

Against All Odds

'A gangster hires an ex-football player to find his girlfriend. When he finds her, they fall in love, and the twists start to appear.'

I've never really watched 1984's Against All Odds all the way though, it always seemed a little boring to me.  Checking out again recently, Bridges certainly looks hot and oozes both sex and sensuality.

Although it seems to get a lot of attention of it's nude scenes, there's actually very little nudity.  The shirtless promotional shots of Bridges, and the hit theme song, I think drew many viewers in.  I think some of the promotional shots of a shirtless Bridges, and even a little implied nudity, were hotter than the actual film.

Jeff Bridges in The Door In The Floor

'A writer's young assistant becomes both pawn and catalyst in his boss's disintegrating household.'

Although Bridges had a few shirtless scenes on screen in the 1990's, I think after his butt baring the 1980's, his next official nude scene was in 2004, The Door In The Floor.  I think this film also marks the last of Bridges on-screen nudity, at least to date.

This is another of Bridges films that I really enjoyed.  I remember when this film first came out, and although I didn't have a website, checked out other sites devoted to male nudity that did.  Most of the attention seemed to go to actor Jon Foster's butt baring, which was certainly hot.  Looking back though, Bridges was equally hot in his two brief nude scenes in the film.
