Another Snow Day with Frisky Frolic!

'A snow day literally and figuratively falls from the sky, unbidden, and seems like a thing of wonder.'
Susan Orlean

I've featured this set from Frisky Frolic before, but they really do encapsulate so beautifully, and so perfectly, the spirit of a snow day.

When we were all kids, snow days were about sledding, snow angels, building a snow man, hot chocolate, skating and making money shovelling driveways. Most of these activities occurred outside, in the actual snow... As we get older, for many of us, snow days have become about about comfort food, binge watching Netflix and then heading back. (if we ever left) our beds.

One of the reasons I love the work of JayBee from Frisky Frolic, is his ability, to magically take me visually, and emotionally back to the weightlessness I felt as a kid. A time when when life was an adventure, risks were frequent, and when our imagination was the part of our brain that took up the most of our time and attention. I shared a few of the images from this set a couple of years ago, but Jay graciously sent on a few more to finish the story.

I must admit, although I have skinning dipped in the summer, and have frequently ran out into my backyard naked in the darkness of night, I have never ran out into the snow during the daylight hours. Frisky Frolic's imagery may not get me to do so, but certainly has me imagining how incredibly fun and exciting it would be!

'This wasn't a planned shoot. One of my regular models was stopping by that morning to pick up something, and he had another friend with him. So I said, do you guys mind running naked through the snow so I can get a few pics. One of these right moment, right time, and we captured it.'

12 Days: Josh Peck in Snow Day

When a school in upstate New York is snowed in, a group of students hi-jack a plow to keep the school closed.

It's always a little weird posting nude caps from an actor who I was first introduced to as a child star.  It's also pretty natural, especially given FH got it's start back in 2007.  Many child stars from the time are now well into their twenties, and venturing out beyond beyond their child star, Nickelodeon and Disney roles.

Actor Josh Peck would have been about 13 or 14 when he booked the role of Wayne in the 2000 comedy Snow Day.   This was Peck's first professional role and co-started in film along side Chris Elliott, Jean Smart and Chevy Chase.  It's hard to believe the cute, chubby kid from Snow Day is the same actor about to appear on the new series How I Met Your Father.

Along the way, Peck was a Nickelodeon starred in The Amanda Show and got his big break in the hit series. Drake & Josh.  Along the way Josh made dozens of other voice, television and film roles including regular roles on The Mindy Project and  and the short lived Grandfathered alongside John Stamos. The young actor also has had several nude scenes, the most notable in 2018's Locating Silver Lake

Luke G: Feeling the Burn!

'Nothing burns like the cold. But only for a while. Then it gets inside you and starts to fill you up, and after a while you don't have the strength to fight it.'
George R.R. Martin

When I first featured artist and model Luke G's snow images last month it was still Prewinter. (HERE:)  It was cold and there was snow, but it was still officially Autumn and the winter's bite hadn't yet officially set in.  Those in the Midwest and Northeast know that bite well, it's a January cold that not only freezes, but burns.

For this shoot, Luke was certainly feeling the burn.  As you can see, he literally froze his butt off to get just the right shot.  This type of cold, especially when directly on the skin, is not only frigid, but painful. I appreciate Luke's dedication to his art and love the loo of the snow clinging so tightly to the tree's.  spectacular background for Luke's beautiful, body.

Chilled to the Bone...Yard: Michael Moody by Lights On Studio

'Next, it was time to experience that cold for real.'

Photographer Tom Nakielski (Lights On Studio) had previously scoped out the cemetery, picking out locations he thought would be perfect for his session with model Michael Moody..  The locations structures, and carved stoned buildings made a gothic winter wonderland.  Tom had his fingers crossed that there would be snow on the ground on the day of the shoot and as you can see, karma was on his side.

'We headed out to the cemetery and once again we went straight to work. Michael immediately was working with the environment and showing me some poses. He was patient as I set up a speed light to enhance the images.'

'Did I mention how cold it was? It was cold, but Michael never complained. I did enough complaining about the cold to compensate for the two of us. Amazingly we managed to get both some studio shots and the location shots at the cemetery in an hours time.'

Michael may not have complained, but he certainly had reason to.  Normally, one wears long john's to keep warm.  Most of us purchase a pair of Stansfield's, or another brand made from heavy cotton or wool.  Michael wasn't so lucky...  The pair Tom provided wouldn't exactly protect one's privates from a slight breeze, let along a strong December gust of wind...   Michael was a real trooper, all for the sake of art!  At least he had his winter hat and heavy military coat to keep him warm from the waist up!

As fate would have, while Tom was re-editing this older shoot, he actually heard from Michael about planning a possible new shoot.  Michael was traveling in the aria and as I write this, I hear both photographer and model were planning something new and creative to capture.  I'll keep you updated, and hope to feature the results in the near future.
