Thespian Toros

Normally, my thespian toro posts feature an image I love of a shirtless star showing a little skin.  I'll make an exception for Paul Mescal who's been rocking quite a few tight, white shirts the last month or so.

Mescal, who's been busy promoting the upcoming All Of Us Strangers, has been out and about giving us great views of his impressive chest in shirts that really show it off.  The talented actor beefed up for his role as Lucius in Gladiator 2

Steven Lyon in Campus Man

'All the girls want to take Brett Wilson home. His best friend just wants to take him to the bank.'

Todd Barret (John Dye) is an aspiring businessman. He's got what it takes, but what he doesn't have is enough money to stay in college. So he cooks up a plan to make the first ever all male sports calendar. He eventually convinces Cactus Jack, a very shadowy and tough loan shark, to give him enough money to make the deal. Todd makes enough to pay for his education, but what about the money he owes Cactus Jack?

Although John Dye, (Medium) had the lead in the 1987 comedy Campus Man, it was Steven Lyon who was both the face on the poster, and the face and body of the film.  Although the film was all about making a sexy male calendar, there was almost no nudity in the film.

Except for a few extras showing their butts in a steamy shower, the only other hint of male nudity was a brief shot of Lyon changing during the calendar shoot.  You can check out the scene, and the calendar shoot in the clip below.

Although I'd heard of this film, I never actually watch it until preparing this piece.  John Dye was cute and likable, reminding me a bit of a young John Cusack.  Lyon was beautiful to watch, and more than matched when acting in his scenes with Dye.  Also in the cast were soap star Kim Delany, Kathleen Wilhoite and Morgan Fairchild.  The studly Miles O'Keeffe, (Tarzan the Ape Man) also had a small role, but it wasn't really more than a cameo.

As stated, Lyon's character Brett was a diver, and there were plenty of shots of the actor in speedos, on the diving board, getting out of the pool, and in the locker room.

Steven Lyon in Valet Girls

'The cuisine here is great, but the parking sucks!'

In the 1986 music comedy, Valet Girls, a young woman who aspires to a singing career gets herself and her best friend a job as valet parking girls at a Malibu party. They take the job in order to meet people who can help them achieve their dreams.

Steven Lyons, (credited as Steve) plays Ike, one of the Valet boys working alongside the valet girls.  Unlike Campus Man, which was an enjoyable flick to check out, Valet Girls was difficult to get through.  The acting wasn't great and there wasn't really much of a story, or characters to care about.

Every year of the 80's was stuffed full of silly comedies, and there's a reason this one isn't really remembered by many.  If there was a saving grace, it was the movies last few minutes.  Sadly, audiences who saw the film in the theatre, had to sit through 82 minutes to get there.

Since I watched the film on-line, I got to fast forward through most of the film and get quickly to the end, and another quick flash of Lyon's end.  Given this was a 'teen comedy' they could have given us a bit more skin, but given Lyon appeared in so few films, I'll take what I can get.  You can download the video on SENDSPACE HERE:
