Bonne Année!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Creative impulses are a fascinating thing. With FH in it's 9th year, my compulsion to continue ebbs and flows each month, and in some cases, each day. But then... I see an image, I discover a new model, I find a photographer or artist whose imagery grabs my attention, and I am again excited to showcase the work.

I always love getting e-mails from artists, especially those artists that consistently contribute to the blog. Seeing that little attachment symbol, and knowing I am about to see new work, propels me to continue, even when I may not be feeling that inspired. Art rejuvenates, and I hope FH has provided you a little rejuvenation, inspiration and tons of stimulation over the last 12 months. A huge thank you as always, to all those who contribute images, art and stories, and have me looking forward to seeing what you're going to do next!

I have always enjoyed balloon imagery, maybe more than balloons themselves. When I was searching for some images for New Years, I came upon the work Ohio photographer DCurtis. DCurtis is also fascinated the balloon concept, and plans to focus more on the theme in the future. The black light images also have shades of New Year fireworks and streamers. I look forward to fearuting more work from Douglas in 2016. For now, here are three of my favorite images, one from the balloon series and two from the black light set to celebrate the New Year.

Muscles & Mountains: Rob

First five images by Gordon Nebeker

'One thing that made working with these particular models joyful, was that they contributed many of the poses. Some of the best ideas came from the models who could be like enthusiastic puppies with a new toy.'

As 2015 comes to an end, so sadly does the Muscles & Mountains series. I thought ending with Rob was a great way to end the series. Rob is the only model of the three that I have not featured, and thought he deserved a bit of extra attention. Not only is Rob incredibly sexy, he also creates such beautiful poses and lines and acts as a anchor of strength in so many images from the series.

Rob had a successful modeling career in New York for many years, but has since settled into a full time job outside of the industry. Today, Rob models mostly for fun when he has time off from work. When opportunities come up, especially like whirlwind trips to Utah to shoot with Gordon, Mike and Mark, Rob loves to jump back in the game. The entire group gathered to celebrated Rob's 45th birthday during this years shoot.

Gordon describes Rob as a great model, and a great guy. Rob's keeps his incredible body in model ready shape with yoga, and you can see the influence of yoga in many of poses. What I love most about Rob's work, besides his spectacular butt, is his physical interactions with his surroundings. Whether with the rocks and tree's all around him, or his poses with Will and Joel, Rob's interactions and connections are intensely sensual and highly erotic.

Brother Wear Thou Art

So many of you know I love me some Cody Calafiore, but call me late to the party, but it's time his brother Paul gets some time in the spotlight. Like most of you, I noticed Cody's hot brother during Cody's season of Big Brother, especially during their shirtless tennis segment last season. I have been planning to feature Paul's work for awhile, but some of his recent Instagram posts, have pushed me hurry the heck up!

Like Cody, Paul is a model, and has personality plus that shines through is images, and his social media postings. Cody and Paul not only share some pretty hot tight genes, but at certain angles have pretty similar facial features. So much so, many were posting Paul's images, crediting them as his brother Cody. One only need to look closely, which given it's Paul, is not that difficult of a task. His tats, and his adorable grin, always give him away if you looks closely enough. Check out his social media pages below, you will not be disappointed!

Happy Birthday today December 30th

Happy 26th Mr. Sheckler!

Brandon Halverson: Model Beneath the Mask

It's not easy looking sexy behind a goalie mask and under all that padding, but nothing can really hide the hotness of Brandon Halverson. Halverson has been getting a lot of attention recently, being one only one of four players being considered as the starting goaltender for the United States at the IIHF 2016 World Junior Championships.

Halverson, who turns 20 this April, currently goal tends for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds' in the Ontario Hockey League. Halverson is also a New York Randers prospect and seen by many as one of the sports most promising men in the net. With those eyes, and those lips, hopefully as he becomes more well known, companies will be looking for a great athlete, and a great face to promote their products and there will be many opportunities to get Halverson in front of the camera.

Golden: Branden by Unlimited Male

'There is more wealth in accomplishing life than there is in having gold.'

The quote above is sort of Branden's life quote and speaks to how he lives his life. It also speaks in a way to the philosophy I use with putting together FH. There are some photographers of the male form who clearly choose to surround themselves only with gold. Perfect bodies, heads of flowing hair, square cut model face and above averaged sized penis's and butts manscaped, edited and photoshopped to fit a perceived notion of fantasy male, with little or no connection to reality.

Then, there are photographers who shoot models, although maybe not Adonis perfect, and through their skill, and with their camera, illuminate a models personality and energy, as well as their organic sexuality creating unique and appealing depictions of the male form. 21 year old South Carolina model Branden is one of those guys, that with only a quick glance, you might not initially notice walking down the street. He's not flashy or showy and not a hint of arrogance.

But... After he walked by, you couldn't help but pause... and want to turn around to take a second look. Despite his sexy glasses and the plaid shirt, he can't hide his tight hot body, and that crazy sexy jaw line. Despite the clothes that cover, you can imagine what he must look like when that plaid shirt and those jeans are lying crumpled up on the floor.

One of the reason's I love the work of Unlimited Male is the models he chooses to shoot. I first came to his work not because of a perfect body or face but because of his images of a model's incredibly sexy Grin. With Branden, I had to admit it was his glasses that first drew me in. I know I'm not the only one drawn to adorable sexy guys wearing glasses.

One of the themes of FH is reveal. Of course their's the obvious, the removal of clothing and the reveal body and flesh. There is also the emotional reveal, finding out how and why artist and model came together in the creation of the images. Glasses sort of play a role in both, providing yet one more layer needing to be uncovered and revealed. For me, the challenge of reveal is part of the attraction to writing about the photography of the male form.

'I really enjoyed working with him. He's in the military and has done a couple of tours overseas, so he's incredibly down to earth, needs very little direction and is completely comfortable in front of the camera. We shot in early November so the water in the creek was pretty cold but he took it in stride. I definitely would recommend him to any photographers and am looking forward to working with him again.'
