Happy 25th to actor Dylan Sprayberry!

Check out more of today's BIRTHDAYS

Seasonal Sightings:

Robert Carradine in The Pom Pom Girls

'A group of carefree high school seniors are having the time of their lives, filled with sex, romance, and teen high jinks.'

Like so many teensploitation films from the 70's and 80's, 1976's The Pom Pom Girls is set in a high school where cheerleaders, and cheerleaders in the shower, are staples of teen sex comedies.  Thankfully, The Pom Pom Girls also takes us briefly into the male shower room, where we get a nice view of Carradine's caboose.

A football player at Rosedale High School is amorous of one of the cheerleaders, who is going with another guy. Another player can't decide which of two cheerleaders he wants to be with. Meanwhile, the Big Game with Hardin High School is approaching, and a prank war is in full swing.

In addition to seeing a bit more of David Carradine, we also get a crack, or a peak at the top of actor Michael Mullins but.  I hadn't heard of Michael before, but he was certainly hot in the film.  Unlike Carradine, who continued to work steadily, Mullins career seems to have sputtered out during the late 70's and 80's.

Although there were a few television guest spots, his last official credit was back in 1990.  The quick flash of the top of his butt crack, was also as far as I could find, his one and only nude scene.

Shower Scene

After the film's initial run in 1976 as an R rated feature, a second run in February 1977 featured a PG version that was 80 seconds shorter with the deletion of some of the stronger language and the sex scenes were shortened.  I think the shower scene featuring Carradine remained intact in both versions and only female nude scenes were edited to get the PG rating.

Energy Overload: Jake by Studio1x

'Jake has a beautiful body and was very proud of it.'

Jake indeed has a beautiful body, but I was equally struck by the beauty and structure of his face.  Except when taking back and butt shots, I love that Jim from Studio1x ensures not to obscure the model's face and especially their eyes.

For me, the visual excitement of seeing a model's nude body is only heighted when also being able to see their eyes and their facial expressions.   The eyes can signal a model's level of comfort, their confidence in front of the camera.  The eyes also provide the model and opportunity to connect with the viewer, and Jake's piercing blue eyes look directly through the camera powerfully meeting the eyes of the viewers looking on.  This is especially impressive given this was Jake's shoot, and his first time posing nude with a photographer.

How did you meet/connect?
I was talking with another guy about a shot and he told me of Jake that maybe the two of them could do a shoot together. Funny thing was when I started talking to Jake, I found out he lived in my town. After chatting a bit, we set a date for the shoot. We did a shoot of just Jake as the other guy stopped talking about a shoot and seemed to have lost interest.

What first struck you about Jake's appearance, body?
Jake was the boy next door, good looking, nice body and full of energy.

Were there any goals on his part of the shoot?
As many of my shoots, if it's the first time the guy is in front of the camera, we didn't have many specific objectives.  The main goal is to try to capture many different looks and to get a lot of great photos while having a great time.

What was he like to work with, did he require much direction?
Jake was wonderful, very open to try many different things. While I do give direction all through the shoot, he took it upon himself to build on my suggestions and we continued to get many great shots.

Was getting nude any issue at all for him?
Even though this was Jake's first time posting nude, he was very comfortable being nude in front of the the camera and myself. Jake has a beautiful body and was very proud of it.

As I stated in the previous piece, Jake's shoot with Jim had a climatic ending.  It also had a bit of an emotional one.  I'll share the final series of images from the shoot, and more of Jim's reflections on his time and work with Jake, later this month.
