On The Side: Kanike by Cooks Photography

'I don’t consider what I do modeling, photographers message me on Instagram to collaborate. I just get some free shots on the side lol '

Kanike may not consider himself a model, but his work with Hal from Cooks Photography is much more than just a side dish.  As soon as I saw images from their holiday themed shoot, I knew they'd make the perfect entrĂ©e for today's buffet of Boxing Day posts.

As much as I love holiday themed imagery, I'm always curious what motivates a photographer or model to shoot holiday imagery.  For Hal, the answer was simple.  Hal loves the holidays as much as I do, and he wanted to have images to post on those days.   When it came to working with Kanike, the decision was also a simple one.  Hal had seen images of the Palm Springs based model and messaged him on Instagram about working together.

Although Kanike ends  up slipping most of this clothing off,  I was curious who supplied the onesie and comfy wardrobe.  Kanike says that when he heard Hal wanted to do a holiday shoot, he brought some pieces from his winter clothing and Hal supplied the rest.  Hal always has plenty of supplies at the ready, but also really liked that Kanike came prepared with all the necessary clothing.

'It was very easy working with Kanike,. he was also extremely comfortable with nudity, there were no qualms at all.  Kanike was very down to earth and easy to work with. '

Holidays are supposed be joyful, but sometimes it's hard to muster the joy, especially during stressful time.  Holiday images however, capture a moment in time and usually the ideal of what a holiday should be. I love the sense of lightness and fun both Kanike and Hal brought to the shoot, especially felt and seen in the twinkle in Kanike's eyes and his big beautiful smile.

'Hal is an out this world amazing sweet man. He always makes sure you are comfortable. He a very professional, great communicator, and always has a smile to his face. Collaborating with Hal is always a joy, he knows what he doing.'

Ho, Ho & Ho
