The Bottom Line:

Horror Hunks: Vincent Van Patten in Hell Night

'Four college fraternity and sorority pledges spend the night in a deserted old mansion as part of a hazing ritual during hell night, where they are stalked by the only survivor of a family massacre from the mansion's sordid past.'

This post didn't begin with a spotlight on Hell Night, it began after catching a few minutes of  Roller Boogie which recently aired again on TCM.  I saw the 1979 disco roller skating move when it aired on TCM back in 2015, and did a small piece, (HERE:) on actor Christopher S. Nelson, who had a nude scene in the film.

Although iconic scream queen Linda Blair, (The Exorcist)  in both films, she wasn't the actor who inspired the post.  I was inspired by Roller Boogie's beach work out scene which featured a hot, sweaty and shirtless James Van Patten.  I started searching for images of James, (Jimmy) but began to notice most of the images I was saving were of his brother Vincent.

I get the Van Patten brothers a little confused.  Actor Dick Van Patten had three sons, oldest s on Nels, middle brother James and youngest son Vincent.  Although Vincent is the baby, the brothers are all just one year apart in age.  I also previously featured actor Tim Van Patten, (HERE:) who is Dick's half-brother and the uncle of the three Van Patten sons.

I think one of the reasons I collected so many shots of Vincent Van Patten was because the Internet also confuses the three sibling, and certain images I found were identified as one brother, yet further research indicated it was another.  Although all three have the quintessential California look, Vincent, especially when young with his sun-bleached blond hair, really looks like your typical 70's California surfer hunk.

What I didn't initially know however, was that Vincent was a big teel idol in the 1970's and early 80's.  I knew he used to act, but today, most know him as a poker player and as Eileen Davidson's husband and his appearances on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.  Vincent's acting career actually began in the early 1970's with appearances on many of the biggest shows of the decade.

Although Vincent's acting career slowed down the 80's, he had a few memorable roles including his turn as Seth in 1981's slasher flick Hell Night.  I don't think I'd heard much about Hell Night, but in addition to Van Patten and Linda Blair, it also featured fellow 70's teen idols Peter Barton and Kevin Brophy.

On the set of Hell Night

I actually really enjoyed Hell Night, not because it was so good, but because it was so 80's bad.  Vincent was also incredibly adorable in the film.  Although I did a deep dive, I don't think Vincent ever did a nude scene, however he was shirtless and in boxers during most of his scenes in Hell Night.

I don't think uncle Timothy did any nudity, he is now mostly directing, including shows like Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones.  In fact, I think the only brother who had any nude scenes was Nels, who had roles in a series of  softcore films in the 1990's.  You can check those out on the NEXT PAGE HERE:

Seasonal Sightings:

Rory

There are some photographers I for some reason connect with certain times of the year.  With JW Johnson, it's Autumn and Winter.  It's not that JW doesn't shoot summer and spring themed images, if you've checked out my previous pieces featuring his work, (HERE:) there are many hot, naked models posing in beautiful spring gardens and under the heat of the summer sun.

The first piece I ever did however, featuring JW's work, spotlighted his Christmas images of hot men sliding out of big Christmas stockings.  I've also returned to his work regularly because of his incredible location work beautiful shot in some of Missouri's stunning forests and locations.  For this piece, I headed to JW's site to find a shoot with a model blanked it by some of Autumn's brilliant reds, yellows and oranges.

I found some  beautiful color all right, but it wasn't the fall foliage. Instead, it was a hot ginger in the form of the rousing Rory.  It was a chilly outside the day JW and Rory were shooting outside, and although Rory braved the cold for so me shirtless shots, the pants stayed on until... well at least for this part of the shoot.   Those pants quickly came off once they were back inside and warmed up.  Check out out those shots in the post below.

Southern Windowlight: Rory by JW Johnson

'The southern windowlight really made his beautiful green eyes dance and shimmer...'

My love of visuals of the male form includes images featuring the entire form.  I've seen so many images, and so many shoots, with a limited and stubbornly fixed focus.  The focus is usually the penis, with the rest of the model's body acting more like a picture frame and not an essential part of art.   I tend to gravitate towards images in which the penis is just a piece of the puzzle, and not the main attraction in each and every image.

What I loved about this series of Rory by JW Johnson, was the focus on a body part often ignored, the pubic hair.  As beautiful as Rory's face and body (and penis) are, I found myself visually drawn to Rory's ginger bush in almost every image.   The hair on both Rory's head, and crotch are a beautiful shade of ginger, and because of the location where JW shot, the light from the window really lit and highlighted their beauty.

I'm not sure why so many  models seem to manscape, or why so many photographers want them to before a shoot.  A little trim is great, but I can't imagine shooting Rory without his ginger pubes as the portal to what lies just below.  I guess some artists want a symmetry of skin, but the pop of color from man's bush can be incredibly hot.

JW clearly had Rory's ginger's bush in mind when he chose not just the location, but the colors he contrasted against it.  JW shares that he especially loved the blue long johns that looked especially beautiful alongside Rory's skin and ginger coloring.  JW strived to make sure that both Rory's poses, and the angles he captured, ensured the light steaming through the windows hit just the right area's on Rory's body as it cascaded down over it.

Rory is from the Nashville area, and drove down to shoot with JW in Hot Spring.  They'd been talking on-line for awhile about working together and Rory was looking for some shots to submit for work both print and video work.  Because of his full time job, it wasn't until late in the day that Rory could head down, so it was after dark before he arrived to shoot.  Given the late hour, they headed to Outback Steakhouse to eat and relax, and get to know each other, and discuss what they'd shoot the next day.
They began shooting about mid-morning the following day, and given the light streaming in the window, began with this series of shots.

'I really liked his red hair and facial hair, as well as his smiling eyes, he had a very easy going, laid back attitude that I think really comes across.  The switched up Rory's wardrobe and the background a bit until the light began to move away from the window.'

Rory had shaved off his full beard just a week before the shoot, but hadn't shaved again since, which JW was grateful for.  James really felt Rory's facial hair added to his charm and personality and the way he flirted with the camera.  After their long morning shoot, Rory took a quick shower, and then they headed out to shoot the location shots on the previous page.

Given the cold temperatures, JW didn't want to keep Rory outside posing for too long.  When they headed back inside, they warmed up, had a quick bite, then took some more erotic shots on the bed, with JW enduring to capture close-ups of all of Roy's body parts the film producers would definitely want to see...
