'My nerves melted away pretty quick once we got started shooting.'
The irritating thing about nerves is how much control they have, or that we allow them have, over our thoughts, They lay idle most of the time, idle that is, until something we're hiding or suppressing is brought to the surface. Once exposed, they can either make or break us. For
Chris O’Mallus the nerves showed up just before the shoot. Once he arrived at his scheduled shoot with
ClearEye Photography, and the shoot began, the clothes came off and the nerves quickly began to dissipate.
Given how closely they're connected to our emotions, they react to both our fears and anxieties, as well as our pleasures and passions. Chris was obviously in his element during the shoot. ClearEye not only observed the confidence, but the ease in which Chris took to his first nude shoot. He and Chris developed a creative rhythm, and Chris went with the flow of the shoot seamlessly. So much so, they've talked about additional shoots in the future.
Had you previously done any nude activities?
I’ve never done any nude posing before, but I’ve been in nude environments before. Being nude has never been an issue for me, my struggles are more so how others perceive me when I’m nude.
Did you have any concerns about modeling due to family or friends and what they might think?
Not really, my family and friends know I’ve never been the modest type. I express myself and they’re okay with that.
How nervous were you prior to the day?
I think I was more nervous the day of because I didn’t really know what to expect, and that didn’t set in until I was actually driving to the shoot. My nerves melted away pretty quick once we got started shooting.
Tell me about the shoot, how did the themes/setups come about? Did you offer any input?
I’ve done a couple shoots with ClearEye, and the first shoot was very much hands off for me. I let ClearEye take full creative control for the most part. He did involve me with what type of poses we did, so I wasn’t entirely absent in the process. Our second shoot had me more involved creatively, and I put more of my ideas into it. Overall, both shoots turned out amazing.
What was your favorite part of your time with ClearEye?
My favorite part was probably how involved I was with the editing process. ClearEye would let me review shots we had taken and pick out ones I liked and didn’t liked. It was reassuring for me considering my previously mentioned struggles with my body.
Did you have a favorite theme or location that you shot?
The outdoor shoot was probably my favorite, just because it was a different experience to shoot nude outside. We also involved some Pride accessories to some of my shots, which I also liked because I’m very involved in the community.
Tell me about the pup and fetish gear, is that something you're into, or just for the shoot?
The pup and fetish gear is something I’ve been involved with for a long time. I’m not particularly active socially in the pup community, but I have close friends who share the same interests and I also follow social media accounts. I was also involved with a leather and fetish magazine for a while as their copy editor.
Do you have a favorite body part you love to spotlight when it comes to modeling?
I enjoy full body shots, but anything involving my legs is also great. I work hard on my legs in the gym, so it’s nice to show them off.
What is it about modeling that you enjoy the most?
I enjoy modeling because it helps me break the negative perceptions I have of myself. It’s very therapeutic for me to see myself and helps me accept my body for what it is.
If you could create your dream theme/scenario for a photoshoot, what would it be?
I definitely want to continue doing more outdoor shoots, but with a fall setting and some spookier vibes. My favorite holiday is Halloween, I always go above and beyond with my costumes every year, so to capture that professionally would be amazing.
