Noteworthy Newsman

'Panic is not easy to conquer or even manage. It can sometimes feel like a medieval punishment. But it doesn't have to be a life sentence.'

I've admired journalist Matt Gutman for awhile now.  Although I've never really watched the ABC network's national news, I caught Matt on some talk shows last year.  He was discussing is struggles with anxiety and panic disorders, and given I've also battled anxiety at times, enjoying hearing his story, and later reading his book.

Although I've turned off pretty much all cable and network news, I do enjoy catching my local news, especially in the evening.  Because of the massive fires in California, I've seen a lot of Matt lately, as the local ABC channel I watch often carries his pieces from the national broadcast.

Matt has one of those on-air personalities that has you thinking he actually cares.  Unlike many of the robot-like newscaster who read everything in a monotone manner, Matt has an ease and natural presence when on air, regardless of how tragic the story he's covering.  Now, I'm not going back to watching cable, or national news, but will be looking for more of Matt's work on-line when I can.

Alone In A Crowd

Warning: Clothing has been shown to cause extreme psychological dependence. Wear it at your own risk.

Working on FH for so long, I think I've featured images of the nude male form in almost every location imaginable. Most nude photo shoots that I feature usually take place in studios, or in private, and out of the way places.  When deciding to just strip down for fun, or to feel the freedom of being naked, you can yank down those undies pretty much anywhere.

Even tough you can strip down almost anywhere, there are a few specific place that seem to majorly motivate men to go bare.  The first, would be festivals and events, especially parades and the wnbr.  Now I know what your thinking, the wnbr include many people who are naked.  Still, these events draw a large audience, leaving many participants often naked and alone, surrounded by only clothed spectators.

Outdoor concerts, especially on hot and humid days also often lead to someone, usually a guy, and usually spurred on by alcohol, and his equally drunk friends, to strip down.  Then, like guy air guitaring below, they're often hoisted up by their buddies to ensure the exhibitionism is seen by as many people as possible.

Sometimes outdoor art exhibitions also include a little male nudity.  The image below if from The Holland Pop Festival in 1970.  The scene, a life replica of a scene from Death in Venice.  The novella by Thomas Mann has inspired many artists, resulting in films, plays and even a ballet.  In the image below, the nude blond beauty is channelling the character of Tadzio for a life sculpture and photo.

I think music festivals inspire nudity than almost every other non-nude event.  The combination of sun, music, drugs, alcohol and a weekend of freedom lead many to strip down and feel the love of the crowd, and the wind on their skin.  Not exactly sure where the festival below took place, but it's interesting there are little kids around.  Kids by the way, who don't seem at all bothered, or care in the least, that there's a naked man doing an odd dance in the middle of crowd.

Of course one of the biggest and well known music festival was Woodstock.  I love that the guy in the image below, doesn't seem to have a care in the world being naked amongst the hundreds of people around him.

I think one of the locations I've uncovered some of the best nudity has been on college campuses.  From hazing, to naked runs and swims, frat boys love any reason to strip down and have some fun.  I for one, thank them for it, and all those snapping images and sharing them on-line as well.
