'Every time when I shoot a new model, it is a new and exciting experience!'
I think the work of Jim from
Studio1x has been featured on
FH more than any other photographer or model. I'm not exactly sure, as I've lost count of all the stories and shoots I've featured. I keep planning on a Quaternate post on Jim's work, but given the multitude of posts, it always feels so overwhelming. I think finally finishing that task has to be one of my New Year's resolutions!
I was first introduced to Jim's work back in 2017, thanks to photographer
Daniel Allen. Daniel encouraged me to check out Jim's work, and included a link to his Instagram page, back then, titled Express Desire Photography. I fell instantly in love with Jim's work, the models he chose to work with, and especially the vast creativity he used in his studio shoots.
I quickly got in touch with Jim who was on board with a post. Jim expressed feeling honored to asked, and encouraged me to send him a list of favorite shots or models that I'd like to spotlight. Although he'd been shooting for awhile, it was only recently he was viewing himself as an artist and photographer.
'I have always had a camera and thought of myself as a photographer. About two years ago, I started taking my hobby seriously and now realized, in the past I was a person with a camera, today I am starting to really see myself as a photographer.'
What I also loved about Jim was that from the start, he wanted to help facilitate story. Although it would have been easy to have Jim just edit and send on his favorite 12 or 15 shots, he wanted me to choose the images I liked best, and images that I felt would fit the story I wanted to tell, and appeal to viewers of the blog.
Although time consuming, it was an exciting experience for me every time I received a link to a Dropbox folder in my inbox. In these folders, were usually somewhere between a few hundred, to over a thousand shots from Jim's work with each model. I then had the fun, but difficult task of narrowing down the images, to about 20 or 30, for Jim to edit for the piece. Sometimes, (often) I couldn't stick to just 20 or 30, but loved as many options as possible to choose from for the final post.
Jim's work made his debut in August of 2017 featuring his work with Robbie. (
Before, During & After) Although I'd sent back a long list of favorites from Jim's Instagram page, he'd just finished a shoot Robbie the weekend before and was excited to share them, and feature them on the site. I was totally on board, Robbie was incredibly sexy, and the shots were a great example of what I loved so much about Jim's studio work.
Since that first piece back in 2017, Jim's work became a regular, and welcomed part of the site. Jim also shot some incredible holiday themes, exclusively for the site. Unfortunately for FH and it's viewers, Jim moved a few years ago, meaning he lost his home studio, and the vast model connections he'd made over the years. Thankfully, that didn't mean the end of featuring Jim's work.
Given he'd worked with so many models, and took so many shots, Jim welcomed me into his vast archives, allowing me to continue to regularly feature his work. Some of the shoots, included so many looks and themes, I was able to do several posts featuring his work with just one model. Jim always tried to get as many looks into the short time he had with a model, to ensure they had as may photos, and as many different looks, from their time together.
I noticed recently, as with this shoot with Oliver, that the models and images that I've been bugging Jim about, have included shoots without frontals. No need to worry, I'm not going through the non-frontal phase that Playgirl went through in the late 80's. I just gravitate towards the images I love, and as many regular viewers may have picked up, I much prefer a creative implied, or side or butt shot over a series of frontals.
The famine of frontals however, is about to come to an end. I'm excited that after a period without Jim's original holiday imagery, he found a space to shoot a new holiday series I'll be featuring over the holidays. When Jim sent on the Dropbox link, I was just as excited as I was the first time he sent his work with Robbie.
In the meantime, enjoy this series with Oliver. Although he didn't show the full Monty, his sensual appeal is certainly more than satisfying. When I saw just one of Jim's shots of Oliver, his beautiful face, body hair and incredible body certainly had me wanting to see more of their work together. Sure, Oliver pulling down his boxer briefs over the top part of his pelvis is bit of a tease, it's was definitely and enjoyable one!
