Bed of Roses 🌹

I wanna lay you down in a bed of roses...

Laying in a bed of rose petals is a really romantic visual, but I think some forget that Bon Jovi followed up the lyric by saying tonight, he'll be sleeping on a bed of nails.  There are a lot of stories about the meaning of the song, but in several interviews Bon Jovi shared it was about his own marriage, and the trappings of fame and it's impact on relationships.  This is especially true for a hot rock star, who spent so much time on the road.

I like the visual, especially when the on laying in rose petals is a hot nude male model.   I think the theme represents one of the many reasons I love showcasing holiday imagery.  When I first started the site, if you looked for searched for 'sexy holiday imagery', the results were almost always all female models.  Even now, in 2025, the results remain predominately women, although a few shots of men, mostly shirtless Santa's, do pop up.

It was the lack of holiday imagery featuring the male form that had me first seeking photographers and models to create original imagery for the blog.  I think it began with Halloween.  When I was sending on samples of what I was looking for, my inspiration for the site's first male witch came from images of pin-up girls posing with pumpkins or in witch hats.  Today, there's far more holiday visuals featuring the male form, and I love that men are able to dive into beds of rose petals to be both a symbol of romance, or be their own romantic hero.

Some of you may remember the Bearded Silver Fox, (Marc-Anthony) from his previous appearance on FH. (HERE:)  Although I loved his previous  modeling work, The Bearded Silver Fox tells me his work has gotten even more erotic since....  Hopefully he'll share more of his work soon!  In the meantime, you can check him out on BlueSky HERE:

The origin of giving red roses on the Valentines is rooted in Greek mythology. One story tells us that the first red rose was created when the Greek Goddess Aphrodite was scratched by a white rose's thorn.  Her blood, caused the white rose to run red.  Another story says that the first red rose grew on the ground where Adonis, Aphrodite's lover, had recently died.  They say it was the Goddess's tears that fell, created and then nourished the first rose.
