Pier-Gabriel Lajoie in Gerontophilia

'A young man begins exploring his attraction to much much older men while working in a nursing home.'

Many young men are into daddies, but in in 2013's Gerontophilia, the main character's sexual attraction is focused towards grand and great-grand daddies.  Although the premise may sound off, and even turn some off, Gerontophilia was actually quite an interesting and even beautiful film. Director Bruce La Bruce walked a delicate line, but was successful in the end in creating a fascinating and unique story.

We're introduced to Lake, a young man with an old soul who discovers he has an odd fixation on elderly men.  Lake has a girlfriend, but can't resist  his urge to be near elderly men. His discovery begins with an unexpected erection after giving an old man mouth to mouth at a local swimming pool.  Lake understands that the men he lusts after were once as vibrant and attractive as he is today.

His obsession with older men has him jumping at the opportunity to take a summer job at the old folks home his mother works at. Lake soon discover sthat the old people in the institution are being given psychotropic drugs to keep them in a catatonic state. Lake befriends one old man in particular, Mr. Peabody,  They begin to form a strong bond. Mr. Peabody charms  Lake with romantic stories of his youth and confesses his dream of seeing the ocean one last time

In addition to La Bruce's direction, the performances are a highlight of Gerontophilia.  Acclaimed stage actor Walter Borden as Mr. Peabody and the beautiful and engaging Pier-Gabriel Lajoie as Lake.  Born in Montérégie, Quebec, Lajoie grew up dreaming of what so many young Canadian men dream of, playing with the NHL.

Lajoie grew up laying hockey but when he was high school discovered his passion for theatre. The young actor studied at the Conservatoire Lassalle in Montreal and graduated from the National Theater School of Canada. Lajoie began his professional acting career on television with a role in 30 vies, (30 Lives) a Canadian soap opera about the teachers and pupils at a high school.  Gerontophilia was the actor's first film role.

Although many actors begin their careers as models, it was through his role in Gerontophilia that Lajoie also began an acting career.  After seeing him in Gerontophilia, director and producer Gus Van Sant chose Lajoie to come to Los Angels for a photo shoot for British GQ Magazine.  Lajoie went on to appear in numerous campaigns as well as walking the runway  in Milan for Italo Zucchelli, Creative Director of Calvin Klein Men.
