Cheers to 2007!
12 Days: The Shower Scene from Yanks
'We'll meet again. Don't know where, don't know when.'
Nothing like a nice hot shower to start the new year and wash off the sins and vices from the night, and the year, before. It's especially nice when that shower includes a young Richard Gere and dozens of hot, naked soldiers. The shower scene in Yanks is only a few seconds long, but worth look. Thanks to IMDB, there was a little behind info on the filming of the scene.
The shower scene from Yanks provided an interesting behind-the-scenes story about film production. The film's story line has the GIs debarking from troopships, then trucking to their respective duty stations. This would mean that the GIs were "pretty ripe" by the time they got there, and showers, shaves and change of uniform were required. The extra had make-up applied to show bug bites (bed bugs, chiggers, etc.), small nicks and cuts, and bruises.
Over 45 men stripped naked and stood under the hot showers while the Red Cross truck drove by. However, this was April in Yorkshire, and the hot water only lasted 2 or 3 takes. The extras had to endure 17 takes to get what the director wanted. By the end the water was freezing and the make-up was long gone.
