Daniel Grassl: FaVorites

'Fiamme Oro'

The men's singe figure skating is over at this year's Olympics, but I'm still a little bugged that Daniel Grassl didn't medal.  I'm thrilled with Nathan Chen's gold, but I thought Grassl's exciting long program should have earned him a silver or bronze.  The Italian figure skate is the 2022 European silver medalist, a 2019 World Junior bronze medalist, and a four-time Italian national champion

At just 15 Grassl became the youngest person to land a quad Lutz jump in international competition. He has continued to consistently land quads, including in Beijing.  Grassl's downfall was his 12th place finish in the short program in the men's event.  In the free skate, he only  had a few minor errors in a three-quad program. Although his forth place finish was a personal best, it landed him seventh in the overall standings.

'Hold on, Man. We don't go anywhere with 'scary', 'spooky', 'haunted', or 'forbidden' in the title.'
Shaggy

When it comes to Scooby Doo, most consider Fred Jones the beefcake. I've even featured some hot depictions of the beefy blonde on the site before. (HERE:)  Thanks to photographer James Laws (retrobeefcake) however,, Norville 'Shaggy' Rogers is finally getting his due.

I've been featuring James' holiday themed work since first discovering his Flickr page last Autumn. I love James' retro-themed holiday images, he always manages to get the 'feel' through his creativity and attention to detail.  Assisting James is his cosplay loving friend Billy who is always up for morphing into a variety of different characters.  For this series, it was Billy who inspired the shoot and theme.

'Billy has just always loved Scooby Doo and loves dressing up as Shaggy. One time when he was dressing up as Shaggy I figured I would take a few shots of him showing his "Scooby snack".'

If you checked out my previous pieces featured James' work, (HERE:) you might notice that this series is a little different than the previous ones I've featured.  Although his work is always erotic, James doesn't shoot a lot of full frontal images. Usually Billy's Scooby snack is usually kept under wraps, under a costume or stuffed into a G-string or posing pouch.  For this set, Shaggy lets it all hang out.

Pier-Gabriel Lajoie in Gerontophilia

'A young man begins exploring his attraction to much much older men while working in a nursing home.'

Many young men are into daddies, but in in 2013's Gerontophilia, the main character's sexual attraction is focused towards grand and great-grand daddies.  Although the premise may sound off, and even turn some off, Gerontophilia was actually quite an interesting and even beautiful film. Director Bruce La Bruce walked a delicate line, but was successful in the end in creating a fascinating and unique story.

We're introduced to Lake, a young man with an old soul who discovers he has an odd fixation on elderly men.  Lake has a girlfriend, but can't resist  his urge to be near elderly men. His discovery begins with an unexpected erection after giving an old man mouth to mouth at a local swimming pool.  Lake understands that the men he lusts after were once as vibrant and attractive as he is today.

His obsession with older men has him jumping at the opportunity to take a summer job at the old folks home his mother works at. Lake soon discover sthat the old people in the institution are being given psychotropic drugs to keep them in a catatonic state. Lake befriends one old man in particular, Mr. Peabody,  They begin to form a strong bond. Mr. Peabody charms  Lake with romantic stories of his youth and confesses his dream of seeing the ocean one last time

In addition to La Bruce's direction, the performances are a highlight of Gerontophilia.  Acclaimed stage actor Walter Borden as Mr. Peabody and the beautiful and engaging Pier-Gabriel Lajoie as Lake.  Born in Montérégie, Quebec, Lajoie grew up dreaming of what so many young Canadian men dream of, playing with the NHL.

Lajoie grew up laying hockey but when he was high school discovered his passion for theatre. The young actor studied at the Conservatoire Lassalle in Montreal and graduated from the National Theater School of Canada. Lajoie began his professional acting career on television with a role in 30 vies, (30 Lives) a Canadian soap opera about the teachers and pupils at a high school.  Gerontophilia was the actor's first film role.

Although many actors begin their careers as models, it was through his role in Gerontophilia that Lajoie also began an acting career.  After seeing him in Gerontophilia, director and producer Gus Van Sant chose Lajoie to come to Los Angels for a photo shoot for British GQ Magazine.  Lajoie went on to appear in numerous campaigns as well as walking the runway  in Milan for Italo Zucchelli, Creative Director of Calvin Klein Men.
