'We needed to work fast to capture the beauty that we saw while maintaining a level of warmth that allowed me to keep my limbs.'
For most of us, at least those who experience full winters, there's a schedule to snow. Sure, mother nature loves to surprise us, throwing that schedule out of whack, but most years, there's a snow cycle we can generally count on.
The cycle usually starts in November. It begins with a few flurries, a bit of wet snow and graupel. Then, at some point before Christmas we that first official snowfall. Snow that actually stays on the ground after it falls. Sometimes, it's lasts through Christmas, (as it for us this year) other years, it disappears, lying in wait to reappear and stay for a spell in January.
By early March, most of us ready for snow to leave for good, or at least until next winter. Sure, skiers, and kids wanting another snow day from school may still hope for snow, but the rest of us, we're tired of it. The nights are still cold, and there's snow on the ground, but there's more daylight, with the sun providing more and more heat each day.
For me however, I'm still hoping a blizzard or two might be lurking, waiting to arrive when we least expect it. It was a snow December here, but January and February, although cold and windy, didn't really give us a really good dumping of snow.
It seemed the perfect time then, to feature more of photographer Michael von Redlich and his snow filled shoot with model Isaac Green. With spring just weeks away, I knew if I waited any longer, many FH would be looking for seasonal sightings of hot naked men frolicking in flowers, not freezing their cute buns off in the snow.
I featured the first two parts of this shoot in February. The first part, (HERE:) featured Michael's images of Isaac inside, looking out at the fresh fallen snow while preparing for his frigid trek outside. In the second part, (HERE:) photographer and model head out to the back deck. Although they left the warmth of the cabin, they were still sheltered a bit from the wind by the house and balcony roof.
In this series, Isaac has no where to hide, and no where to run from the freezing temperature, the wind and the cold. As you can see, Isaac's fit, lean form doesn't provide much insulation from the elements. Despite this, Isaac doesn't hide from the cold and snow, he embraces it. Isaac not only sits in the snow, he dances, getting more and more energized as the shoot goes on. Michael of course captures every beautiful moment, including his spirits rise with a vigorous burst of energy at the end of a very long day.
