Nantucket Nudes!

'This is Nantucket, its not San Francisco. We are a simple people. We fish our waters, we till our lands, we eat a big sandwich.'

I only watched Wings sporadically when it originally aired.  I was still in school, and didn't really watch a lot of television in the early 1990's.  I did catch enough of the show however, to crush over it's stars Tim Daly and Steven Weber.   It didn't hurt that it seemed like one, or both of the Hackett brothers were shirtless in almost every episode.

I also had an erotic affinity for Thomas Haden Church who played Lowell.  Lowell as also seen shirtless quite often, and I thought Church was especially hot during his time on Wings, especially when he had longer hair.  I also really liked Tony Shalhoub, but I believe he was only shirtless once on the show.

I also liked the rest of the cast, Crystal Bernard, David Schramm and Rebecca Schull.  I wasn't really a fan however of Amy Yasbeck, and didn't think her character really added much.  In the posts below, I take a closer look at Joe and Brian Hacket, and of course Lowell Mather.  There shirtless scenes on the sitcom, and their nude scenes beyond their time in Nantucket.

Below: Daly and Weber still looking hot in a recent shot posted on Instagram

Thomas Haden Church as Lowell Mather

'I give blood all the time. Just between you and me, Roy, I'll do anything for a sugar cookie.'
Lowell Mather

Lowell Mather was a quintessential dumb blond, a character found on many sitcoms.  Normally however, the character is female, but given there were two male leads, it made sense to give these traits to Lowell, one of the show's supporting of characters.

Lowell was played by actor Thomas Haden Church and was one of my favorite characters on the show. Church departed the series in season six, deciding it was time to look for other opportunities.  He figured correctly, the character wasn't going to grow or change, and was destined to be a sidekick,  a funny one, but a sidekick nonetheless.  In hindsight, Church made a good decision.  The show was cancelled the season after he left, and the actor went on to appear in several successful films including Sideways and as Sandman in the Spiderman series.

Tim Daly as Joe Hackett

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a wonderful Christmas!
Joe Hackett

I think most women and gay men who watch Wings went back and forth with who their favorite Hackett brother was.  I like them both, but I think Tim Daly as Joe may squeeze out on top.  Classically handsome, Daly's Joe never really acted the way so many hot television characters are written.  Joe's not especially smooth with the ladies, and has quirks and odd personality traits that actually add to his appeal.

Both Hackett brothers, and both of the actors who played them, seemed to take off their shirt, and sometime pants, about equally on the sitcom.  Daly continued to show both his charm, and his chest, in subsequent roles on Madam Secretary and Private Practice.  Unlike his co-star Steven Weber however, who had multiple nude scenes, I think Daly only had one.

Madam Secretary

Private Practice

Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde

'A scientist creating perfumes inherits his great grandfather Dr. Jekyll's formula and decides to use modern technology to improve it. He ends up as an ambitious, ruthless woman. She tries to prevent returning into the spineless man.'

In the middle of his run on Wings, Tim Daly got what I believe to be his first lead in a feature film in 1995's Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde.  Daly swaps lives, and bodies with Ms. Hyde played by actress Sean Young.  During the switch, Daly often ends up wearing female clothing, or not much at all.  Although we get a nice view of Daly's beefy butt, my favorite scenes are the tighty whitie scene, and the scene with Daly in lingerie. (In the clip below)

Steven Weber as Brian Hackett

'Really? He also used to collect toenail clippings and keep them in a mason jar.'
Brian Hackett

With Joe being the 'responsible' brother on Wings, Brian, played by actor Steven Weber, was left to play the irresponsible one.  Brian was the one who had an affair and eloped with Carol, the love of Joe's life.  This caused a rift between the bothers that sets off the events of Brian's return in the pilot. Although carefree, Brian steps up over the course of the series, something that actually ends up being a struggle for Joe.

Weber got his professional start in 1984 with a small role in the feature film The Flamingo Kid.  He went on to appear in a number of films and television shows, including a short stint as Julianne Moore's love interest on the soap opera, As The World Turns.  During his time on the sitcom, Weber appeared on screen in Single White Female which featured a quick full frontal scene.  You can check out caps and clips of the scene on FH HERE:

Weber also racked up an impressive amount of stage roles, including several stints on Broadway.   It was in Los Angeles however, that Weber had another frontal scene, in a 2001 LA Reprise of the musical Hair.  Weber starred alongside Sam Harris and Billy Porter, and as you can see from the caps below, went full frontal for the iconic scene at the end of Act I.   Special thanks to xyzpdq for the video!

Just Looking

Weber stripped down again for the 1995 film Just Looking.  I'm guessing the the male tramp stamp was for the role.  Video for download on SendSpace HERE:

I think Weber's last nude scene was about ten yeas ago on an episode of the TNT crime drama Murder in the First.   Created by Steven Bocho, the show ran for three seasons from 2014 through 2016.
