Michael von Redlich: An Autumnal Adieu

🍂Autumnal Sightings 🍂

American THANKSGIVING is based on a 1621 story based on the harvest feast shared between the Wampanoag people and the English colonists. (the Pilgrims)  Although the truth of that early meal has been disputed, we all agree the forth Thursday in November is a day to give thanks.  Thanks for our blessings and more specifically, thanks for the Harvest haul.

Before there were refrigerator's, frozen food, and the ability to ship and have fresh fruits and vegetables all year long, the end of November meant the end of Harvest, and a time give thanks for the crops, and ready and store food for the long winter ahead. Thanksgiving also marked the closing days of Autumn.

With metrological winter beginning on December 1st, the end of November was usually the last chance to take in Autumn's beauty before the leaves start freeze, and become covered with snow.  Now.. with climate change, that date has certainly shifted, but growing up, by the time December hit, the leaves were mostly brown, and the beauty and colors of Autumn had already peaked.

Seems like the perfect day, and perfect opportunity to take one last walk in the woods with photographer Michael von Redlich.    If you're a regular FH reader, you know I've been celebrating the Autumn season the last few months by spotlighting Michael's Autumnal themed shoots and imagery. (HERE:)  I've loved going through Michael's portfolio, choosing my favorite shots from the many shoots and models Michael captured with colors of fall blazing in the background.

This series with AJ was one of my favorites, so I decided to save it for Thanksgiving, and to celebrate the end of the season.  If you're enjoying it as well, you can check out more of Michael's work with AJ on the NEXT PAGE HERE:
