Hugh O'Brian in Love Has Many Faces

'It's too bad I'm not illegal, just immoral...'

Last month, as part of my 4th of July posts, I featured images from the 1962 musical All American. (HERE:)  The lead in the Broadway show was an actor named Ron Husmann, and when I was searching for images of Ron, another actor's images kept coming up.

Back in 1965 Husmann co-starred in the romantic mystery Love Has Many Faces.  Husmann played Chuck in the film, and spends much of his time shirtless along side his friend Hank played by the ultra hot Hugh O'Brian.  Hand and Chuck are called 'beach boy's, which was the tame way in 1965 to call a man a gigolo.

Hank is the dominate part of the pair, scoping out older women to turn on, have sex with, and get as much of their cash from them as he can.  O'Brian has zero trouble attracting women, and struts and peacocks around the beach in a skimpy bathing suit reeling in them in.

O'Brian spends much of the first half of the movie in a tight swim suit in various colors.  He wears yellow for most of the first of the film, then changes into a blue and red version of the same tiny suit.  I was shocked with how much budging was we got to see.  O'Brian, especially in yellow, bares pretty much all as the cock of the walk on the beach.

The movie actually begins with a mystery when the body of another 'beach boy' is washed ashore.  The police investigate whether he died from murder or suicide.  There are plenty of interesting characters along for the ride played by Lana Turner, Cliff Robinson, Ruth Roman and Stephanie Powers.  I don't ever really remember seeing a hotter movie where everyone keeps their clothes on.

O'Brian and Husmann

The movie is a great summer flick, steamy, sultry and plenty of male skin.  There's also a hint, and just a hint, that Husmann's Chuck may just also have a wee crush on his buddy Hank.  O'Brian isn't necessarily conventionally handsome, but he is incredibly hot in this film and just oozes sex appeal.  Even if you don't really watch old movies, I'd recommend giving this one a shot.  It has a sort of White Lotus vibe with plenty of pretty people to enjoy.

O'Brian is a sleeper hunk for sure. That jawline! That tan! Even though we can watch movies and TV today with blatant gay action, it's the hints we can read into old movies that I find more exciting. A locker room scene, a skinny dip. Wondering about the moments before the director yelled "Action!" and the moments after.

The scenes of O'Brien and Husmann's characters at their beach shack had a homoerotic edge.
'Love Has Many Faces' was controversial in 1965 and had a limited run in theaters. :)
