After a discussion (ok, an argument) with a few of my friends Thursday night, we headed out to
Hunger Games. One of them wanted to see
Titanic 3D but I barely got through it's drawn out melodramatic love story the first time and had no intention of seeing it again. Everything I had heard about the film was positive but I still had reservations as the films appeal has been compared to that of the
Twilight saga, yet another blockbuster I had a hard time getting through.
I loved the film, and it's cast all superb. Although led by a the incredible Jennifer Lawrence, the heroine was surrounded by plenty of testosterone to please anyone needing a little male distraction with their action. Stanley Tucci, Wes Bentley, Liam Hemsworth, Lenny Kravitz, Woody Harrelson and the oh so hot Alexander Ludwig are all more than able to fill one's hunger craving.
Most impressive was actor Josh Hutcherson who, (I know I must live under a rock) I had not really heard of until this film. It is a testament to his acting skills that a character at times you dismiss, dislike and distrust becomes one, which by the third act, you end up routing for. It is also a testament to the appeal of Liam Hemsworth that in only a few short scenes, you still want the heroine to choose him.
