Um... I'm not for sure if you're just not that well versed in what's going on in music, or if you just personally don't like Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, and Keith Urban, but none of them need to have their singing careers revived. Mariah Carey is tied for most number one singles on the Billboard charts, Keith Urban's four albums have landed in the top 10, 2 made it number 1, and Nicki Minaj is at the height of her popularity right now. If anyone needed their "singing" career revived it was Jennifer Lopez.

American Idol is still, ratings wise, one of the most popular shows on television, which is pretty incredible seeing as how Idol is entering into it's 12th season. It certainly hasn't "jumped the shark." Jumping the shark is when a uber popular show does something ridiculous and almost immediately after it's ratings plunge and it goes off the air. I understand that this is your opinion and you obviously aren't a fan of AI and the new judges, but maybe, much like Randy Jackson on AI, you need to dial down the hyperbole.

I had to google hyperbole.

Obviously I disagree with many of your points, but thank you for the thought out comment, truly!

I agree with both of you. I got sick of watching AI and any singing competition a long time ago and wish that Mariah, Brittney, and Christina would focus on releasing new music and touring instead of judging on these shows. But I can't deny how popular these shows are and that even the biggest stars want to be on these shows. Just this morning it was announced Usher and Shakira would be coaching on The Voice. Both of them definitely don't need a revival of their career.
