With Ease: Chris by Pride of Paradise

'Blond, Blue eyes, great face and body. What's not to love.'

What's not to love indeed!  As fit and hot as Chris' physique maybe, it was his great face and beautiful blue eyes that first drew me his images from Michael Deer from Pride of Paradise Photography. Michael shares that Chris could evoke emotions with ease, and through his face and eyes, and through Michael's lens, Chris creates an emotional connection with the viewer in each and every image.

'I remember Chris as a very nice guy and really easy to work with.  H could evoke emotions with ease.  It's been awhile since this shoot and I would love to see him today, in life and through my lens.'

Michal shares that Chris was not only at ease with the expression of emotion, but that he was also incredibly relaxed with both being and shooting nude.  Because of his career, Chris wasn't quite ready for his penis to make a public debut, but had no issue hanging around the studio fully naked.  Chris loved playing dress up, trying on the many costumes and fashion pieces from the large wardrobe Michael had collected over the years. .

After recently seeing one of Michael's images of Chris on Model Mayhem, I had to reach out about seeing more from the shoot.  It's been a few years since I've spotlighted Michael's work and I had been looking forward to sharing more of his work.  Michael's unique view of the model's he shoots stood out to me the first time I saw his work.  He always manages to capture something distinctive, a personality facet or emotional component of the models in front of his lens.

One of the reasons it's been awhile since I've featured Michael's work has been the struggles Michael has faced over the past few years.   In 2018, Michael lost his piece of Paradise in a fire that destroyed his home.  He and husband Dayle were forced to move and eventually ended up in Willits, a small city a few hours north of San Francisco.  It was a jolt to have to start over again with a new home in a new city.  The fire also destroyed Michael's home studio including all of his negatives, photo discs, prints and his home computer which stored his image archive.

Thankfully, this series of images of Chris were displayed and saved on Michael's site. Given all that was going on in life, Michael took losing so much of his work in stride. He realized he only  lost 'stuff' and was grateful he and his husband were safe with the opportunity to start a new life in Willits.  Michael has recently began creating a new studio space in a spare bedroom in a rustic out building.  He's excited to start shooting again when the studi's finished and the pandemic is under control.
