'Really hoping Phil doesn't Punx things up this year!'
Punxsutawney Phil isn't the only animal that predicts whether they'll be six more weeks of spring. Northeastern Connecticut uses a duck and Southeast Texas uses an alligator. In Serbia, it's a bear, in Japan a catfish, in Germany a Frog and in Nova Scotia, it's Lucy the lobster.
In a tradition dating to the 1880s however, it's ole Phil who pops up, (or is dragged out) on February 2nd. If Phil sees his shadow, it's a sign winter will last six more weeks. If he doesn't, an early spring is on the way. I'm not sure what Phil will see this year, but if we have six more weeks there's a way to make the most of it. Here' six, (well nine) more visuals that prove six more weeks of winter can be a whole lot of fun!
