A Canadian 🍁 Conspiracy?
Is there a Canadian 🍁 agenda? I am not really a fan of online algorithm's but with Crave's Heated Rivalry, I'll make an exception. Because of the 'likes' I've made on Connor Storrie and Hudson William's images, not to mention all the articles, interviews and podcasts, my Twitter feed has been about 90% Heated Rivalry focused.
François ArnaudOf course, along with all the great content, comes a lot of criticism and crap. At the top of the crap list has to be all the right wing posts claiming that the show is part of a conspiracy to push a LGBTQ Canadian agenda. Sure Heated Rivalry is Canadian made production, sure it was partially funded by the Canadian Government, but calling it an 'agenda' made me laugh. Then... I began thinking about it.... 😉
I know I'm repeating myself, but if you're going through Heated Rivalry withdraw, if you haven't watched Heartstopper yet, it's a great way to wean off the intensity of the hockey show. Although every different shows, I wrote about the similarities in a Christmas Day post. (HERE:) Although not as intensely sexual as HR, it does contain plenty of yearning, and certainly leaves you with similar feels.
A Canadian Agenda, more like the Canadian Government's Media fund, which does finance a lot of Canadian productions, and many with LGBTQ themes. A conspiracy... nah, but go Canada!
DegrassiThe Canadian made Degrassi franchise had many LGBTQ characters through it's many incarnations. Maybe the most well known was Marco Del Rossi. (above) Marco was played by Adamo Ruggiero in Degrassi: The Next Generation.
Back in the 80's, the original Degrassi Jr. High was already pushing television boundaries with LGBTQ characters and plots. Anyone remember actor Montgomery Randal, (above) who played Snake's gay older brother Glen? I think almost every gay kid watching Degrassi also had a crush on Joey Jeremiah. (Pat Mastroianni) The show even gave us two Joey butt scenes. You can watch his nude hallway walk on FH HERE:

12 Days: Jim Watson in Rodeo Christmas Romance
'When a rodeo bronc rider finds herself ranch-sitting for a friend while caring for her injured horse over Christmas, she clashes with a brooding veteran only to find that the magic of the season may be what they need to heal their hearts.'
Of course Bill later returns to cause a little friction, but alas, he didn't get the girl. Although this was a Lifetime film, not a Hallmark flick, I hope the next time Watson is cast in a holiday film he gets to play the leading man.
If you're able to watch much Canadian television, you might know Watson from his regular role on the medical drama Transplant, as well as roles on other Canadian based shows including: Wynonna Earp, Hudson & Rex, The Umbrella Academy, Good Witch and Mary Kills People. Most recently Watson was seen in the limited horror series Hell Hotel.
An anthology series featuring rampaging serial killers leaving carnage in their wake as their next victims fight to stay alive.
