'Take it all off! Now be a sweet boy and show Mama how much you love her...'
'Oliver aimlessly wanders the streets on what can only be described as a truly shocking and humiliating killing spree. His only savior is the beautiful Sophia with her sweet eccentricity and naivety to the danger she has put herself in.'
The movies are full of bad and abusive parents, especially horrible mothers. From Pamela Voorhees in Friday the 13th to Margaret White in Carrie and Joan Crawford in Mommie Dearest. One of the sickest however, has to be Mama from the 2017 horror slasher film Who's Watching Oliver.
We only see Mama, (Margaret Roche) though a computer screen, but that's more than enough. Through the films writing, and director Richie Moore, we can vividly imagine what Oliver, (Russell Geoffrey Banks) went though growing up. We're introduced to Oliver in Thailand. Mama sent him there with orders to find women to rape and murder. It of course isn't enough for Mama to hear about the brutal crimes, she wants to watch them all through her computer screen.
Who's Watching Oliver is pretty bloody, with several sexually violent scenes. It's also pretty compelling with a unique horror twist. FH viewers know I love the blend of holiday and horror, so I was excited to discover the film in time for Mother's Day. Mama is one sick puppy, in the scene below, forcing Oliver to show her some Lovin' by masturbating in front of the computer screen.
British actor Russell Geoffrey Banks is great as Oliver, causing viewers to feel his pain. Although he's the one committing the brutal crimes, the real villain is the sick old lady on the computer screen. We sympathize with Oliver, knowing the sexual, emotional and physical abuse been through and understanding how tormented he is about his crimes.
