City Men: The Photography of Sergey Sheptun & Richard Rothstein

It was back in 2012 that the work of artist Richard Rothstein first appeared on FH.  Since then, I believe I've featured Richard's work more than any other artist. (you can check them all out (HERE:) Back then, Richard's site and work was credited as Manhattan Men.  The name told the story of both Richard's passion for the male form, and the city he loved and lived in.  Although there were a few studio shoots, most of Richard's shoots then were taken on the streets, in the parks, in the alleys and along the water fronts of New York City.

Even when he shot inside, Richard ensured the backdrop was Manhattan.  On his roof, his balcony and from the windows of his condo, the city was also as important as the model in the forefront.   When it came to models, Richard shot some of the hottest, and some of the most eclectic group of men who inhabited the big apple.  In 2018, Richard introduced me, and FH readers, to a model who turn out to be one of his most popular, and one of his most personal, and creative relationships.

Richard's work with Sergey Sheptun appeared on FH over 30 times, (HERE:) with some of the most creative and boundary pushing themes and stories.  I feel fortunate to have been a mere audience member watching the progress of their friendship and creative coupling.  Sergey quickly went for model to muse, photography assistant, creative collaborator to co-worker.  Working by Richard's side, both in front and behind the camera, in solo, couple and group shoots featuring unique visuals, and innovative storytelling.   Now, the two artists and friends are blending their talent and work for a unique artistic visual experience.

A perusal of the male nude in the city we all love.  Celebrating the intergenerational art and friendship of Sergey Sheptun and Richard Rothstein

In New York City's vibrant photography scene, the celebration of the male nude can become a quiet dialogue between generations and artists. Imagine a young photographer and a seasoned image-maker meeting in a light-filled Manhattan studio or wandering a rooftop with city views towards the Hudson with a camera, discussing how the male body has been framed across decades of art.

For the older artist, the nude recalls the rebellious gallery culture of earlier eras-film cameras, improvised studios and a push against censorship.  For the younger one, it becomes a conversation about identity, consent, and modern body-positivity.  As they photograph together, the male form becomes less about provocation and more about continuity: a shared study of light, muscle, gesture, and vulnerablity that bridges age, experience, and artistic philosophy within the endlessly creative landscape of New York City.

Who's The Boss: JonModel by Carl Proctor

' I lie back in an armchair with a huge boner waiting to receive your head, then show you my hole. '

Last month, I featured the visual work of model and  content creator JonModel. (HERE:)  I'd been following Jon's work on-line for awhile, and was excited after I reached out, that he was up for a piece on the site.  For that first piece, Jon choose some of his favorite shots, and answered all my pesky questions. Many FH readers know that many of my stories are motivated by curiosity.  With Jon, even after posting, there was much more I wanted to know....

So let's start with the quote from Jon that led of this piece....  If you're not already hot and aroused by the quote, you may, like me, want to know more.  The scenario may be one that Jon, and many of us, are intimately familiar with.  In this case however, it was also  part of the theme for the shoot.  An erotic theme, a hot model shot by a favorite artist... what's not to love.

That favorite artist Atlanta based photographer Carl Proctor. When Jon sent on his selection of favorite images, two them were from Carl.  Many longtime viewers may remember that Carl was one of my favorite creative collaborators.  Between 2011 and 2017,  I spotlighted Carl's work close to 30 times. (You can check them all out HERE:)  Carl often created shoots for private clients, who always had specific requests.  Carl often squeezed in some separate shots and themes, that he could share with FH.

The last time that I'd  heard from Carl was several years ago.  We were working a few new pieces for the site.  Sadly, they never materialised.  I knew that Carl was having health issues, and all of future attempts at getting in touch were unsuccessful.  My curiosity about Jon's work with Carl sadly, answered a few those questions.  Joh's answers, also created a few new ones. It's possible, his work with Jon was Carl's last shoot.  If so, it's an incredibly hot one!

How did you connect with Carl?
Carl contacted me through a website that connects photographers with models. He said that a private client of his was offering me a sizable sum of money to be shot. The offer seemed legitimate, so I agreed to move forward with it.

Did you check out, or research his work before hand?
I looked at Carl's online portfolio and was impressed by the quality of his images. I could tell that he is a very talented and experienced photographer.

Did you travel to Atlanta for the shoot, or was Carl traveling?
Carl's client flew me to Atlanta for the shoot. From the airport, I rode in a taxi to Carl's home.

What was the theme, or 'story' for the shoot?
This shoot was themed around a fantasy that you, as the viewer, have for me, as your coworker or boss. It starts with me noticing you and making eye contact. I seductively unbutton my shirt while holding your gaze, then unzip my pants and show you my throbbing cock. I lie back in an armchair with a huge boner waiting to receive your head, then show you my hole.

When you're doing a story shoot, do you prepare differently?
It flows naturally, like stories do, so no need for special preparations. I enjoy flirting and being seductive, so this was a fun story line for me to act out.

What do you think about when modeling nude?
I'm very comfortable being nude, so I just focus on the work.

What's something memorable that you learned from the shoot?
During the break, Carl showed me some coffee books of the sensual male photography by Mark Henderson which left an impression on me. I aspired to be as sexy as Henderson's nude men.

Tell me about working with Carl, what stood out?
Carl was a sweet man, always treated me kindly, and took me out to dinner after the shoot. He told me that he had a growing tremble in his hands from Parkinson's disease and that ours was going to be his last shoot. He also mentioned that using a computer had become almost impossible for him.

A few months after the shoot I no longer could reach him by email or Instagram. I assumed that was because his Parkinson's had progressed beyond the point where he could use a computer even with difficulty. If his life has since been taken by the disease, may he rest in peace.

If you could do a NMNM shoot with any celebrity, who would you choose?
That's a hard choice! When the Captain America films were coming out, I would have said Chris Evans, but after watching the Man of Steel series, I'd have chosen Henry Cavill, then after seeing Chris Hemsworth's beautiful naked butt in "Thor: Love and Thunder," I'd have to say it would be Hemsworth, and last year, after watching the third season of Wheel of Time with nude scenes, I would have chosen the handsome Joshua Sadowski. With Heated Rivalry having recently come out, I know a lot of people would say Connor Storrie, and I might once I watch it too.

What current content creator would love to do a collaboration with for your OF
I'd love to do a collaboration with the sexy bottom, Serg Shephard, who I've chatted with briefly, but who has been hard to reach. He seems sweet and I think we could make a passionate sex video together.
