The Serious Case of Benjamin Godfre

Being a successful male model is really almost an impossible task. So many guys, so few jobs, people looking to use you, little money and not always a lot of respect. Those few who do become successful know that there are a few secrets that can give you a boost along the way. Without giving them all away, I will tell you they boil down to a couple of basic factors, brains...and connection. 24 year old Benjamin Godfre knows these principles well and is applying them with to his career with incredible results.

Brains:

Benjamin gets his body from intense work outs and hard work. His beautiful unique facial features come from his Irish, Italian and English heritage. When in Elementary school Benjamin moved with his family to Minnesota where he continued to live for the rest of his high school career.

'In high school, I was an avid wrestler and took 3rd in the state tournament. I was heavily recruited in college and ended up spending a semester wrestling for a college in the middle of nowhere! I had met a gentleman during one of my summer training sessions out of state, and we had planned to move to Florida together to become ultimate fighters. I spent one year in FL and learned a LOT! Then I moved to CA because it sounded lovely and I have been here ever since. I finally found home!'

Benjamin has been in the modeling industry for over a decade but ensured his education remained a priority. He studied biomedical engineering for a few years before switching his major to business/marketing.

'I am so much happier now that I don’t have advanced calculus and physics haunting me.'

Given that so much of the modeling industry often comes down to business and marketing, Benjamin is able to directly put his education into practice within his career. Besides full time study, Benjamin juggles two restaurant jobs as well as an internship!



Connection:

Modeling agencies do a great job at connecting talent with client. What they do not put as much time in is connecting client with audience. Since it is audience that buy product, a smart model can cut through the middle man and is able to form a direction connection with those who enjoy their work. Benjamin Godfre is doing this as well as anyone I have seen. There is an ease, and enjoyment and most of all respect when interacting those who enjoy his work.

There are thousands of models and actors on the web with sites they are hoping will draw people in. Many in the industry have their portfolio shots taken, then sit and wait for the industry to find a way to use them. Those who get the jobs know you have to find a way to use the industry. Benjamin knows a secret that many often ignore. Fans of male models like to invest. They like to follow models they like, watch their process and feel a part, even a small one, of their success. The Internet allows fans to be active participants, supporting those they love with more than just adoring adoration.

This give and take has proven to help make Benjamin Godfre one of today's hottest and most popular male models. Benjamin routinely comes near the top of many favorite model lists (including #2 on FH's reader poll in 2009). His threads, on model and celebrity forums tend to be longer than most and his images by Tom Cullis for Timoteo brought the company massive exposure!

'Tom Cullis was a phenomenally powerful influence in my modeling career. I owe everything to him. Our connection was strong and fostered the creativity to produce my first wave of images. Now days, I have evolved into a more edgy, modern style of modeling'



What I love most about Benjamin's work (besides it being incredibly hot) is that connection. Benjamin's ability to connect through not only through his work, images but though communication with those who enjoy his work. Although incredibly serious about reaching his goals, he also knows that the people who tune into his site are doing so at the end of a long, often hard day. They are looking for a bit of escapism, fantasy and most of all fun.

'I started my website, www.benjamingodfre.com, originally because I wanted to provide a (one stop shop) for my friends and fans to access me. I also wanted to allow the option for people to purchase current and sexy images/products from me. My new video/blog style format is really fun to edit. I envision my site being a very fun and entertaining experience for anyone who stumbles across it. I will always adjust my approach and always keep it fresh and new.'

It is always a pleasure to work on a post featuring the work of Carl Proctor. When I first profiled Carl's work earlier in the year, (Visual Stimulation) I touched upon Carl's journey through experiencing fantasies to now capturing them through his lens. I am sure that capturing the scorching image of Benjamin Godfre is a fantasy many of us share.



Benjamin continues to strengthen his Benjaminion Nation, something I wrote about a couple of weeks ago in a story featuring his work with Jon Seneca (The Serious Case of Benjamin Godfre).

Carl and Benjamin recently met up for an intense two day marathon of shooting. Carl's ability to skillfully capture moments, and most beautifully moments in motion, is creatively and erotically front and center in his recent work with Benjamin. I thank Benjamin for once again helping out and supporting FH showcasing his work. Benjamin loved not only working with Carl but the results of their two days together.

'Carl is a great guy. He is efficient and professional. He also has a great vocabulary and a kind soul.'



Benjamin flew into Atlanta from LA to meet up with Carl for the two day shoot. Carl says when he got to the airport it was no surprise to see Benjamin walking towards him with skateboard in hand. 'He's a skateboard-aholic. Must go with the California lifestyle!' After checking into his hotel the two got right to work and it was no surprise to Carl that Benjamin was sporting his trademark Timoteo's. Carl says that Benjamin always keeps his fans and supporters in mind when working and does all he can to ensure he gives them his best.

'His extensive modeling experience and high energy, coupled with an unrivaled sense of humor made the 2 day shoot go by very quickly. Over a thousand images later, I dropped him back off at the airport for his evening flight into the sunset back to La La Land.'

'From the moment his first image from photographer Tom Cullis hit the web, Benjamin Godfre has been causing sensations. The Minnesota native never dreamed modeling would be a part of his future but after becoming the face, not to mention the crotch, of Timoteo, we were all running out to buy our own yellow pair! Of course we all don’t look as good in our skivvies as he does and Ben is smart enough to know it.'

Like most lovers of the male form, the first time I noticed model Benjamin Godfre, he was sporting a pair of tight Timoteos. Back in the late 2000's, Benjamin caused a series of tremors across the net with his his yellow and red undies and with his work with photographer Tom Cullis. Benjamin first appeared on FH in those Timoteos back in 2008, and was a fixture on the site for the next several years. In 2009, Benjamin came in second, just behind Joseph Sayers, in FH's Blog vote poll. (HERE:) (Just behind the fellow Timoteo wearing Joseph Sayers)

I interviewed Ben several times over the years, the first, back in 2011, for a feature spotlighting his work with photographer Jon Seneca. (The Serious Case of Benjamin Godfre) I followed up that piece a few weeks later featuring Ben's work with photographer Carl Proctor. (A Thousand Image Later)  If you look closely at those two pieces, although there were a few discrete penis peeks, there were no full frontals images included.

I had gone back and forth with Ben several times about what images to use. Ben put his marketing and business major to good during this process. He wanted to feature images which evoked interest, but as well, ensure there was plenty left to share in the future. Carl Proctor had sent on a really hot set of Ben in the woods.  Many of you may have since the shots from that series which featured Ben in leather hand and leg cuffs. The images had a fetish feel and Carl shot them not only for a specific reason, but for a specific set of eyes.

Although Ben went on to release the full set, at the time of my posts, he was just beginning the launch his new website.  Ben had a very specific time line for when and how his images were going to be released.  Those of you who checked out the site back in 2011 and 2012 may remember the slow release of images and videos and the build to full frontal shots and more erotic content.

Although fans can be fickle, Ben's plan worked, and he amassed thousands of Benjaminions, his name for the huge following of fans who joined the site and looked forward to his constant flow of new images and videos.  Ben skillfully connected with his fans in a very personal way, communicating both on-line, and off, calling them, meeting them, and celebrating them on his site

The following year, Ben's penis was no longer in the shadows, and seemed to be everywhere, including my FH interview with photographer Paul Reitz, ((HERE:)  I interviewed Ben a third time late in 2012 in in my role as features editor for his cover story in the third issue tMf Magazine. While recently searching the FH archives for images of another model, I re-read some of pieces on Ben and couldn't help but be curious as to what he' sup to. 

I remembered my back and forths with photographer Robert J. Guttke, (The Picture Of)  about his time working Ben.  Robert took some his earliest, and most powerfully memorable images. Robert knew Ben when he was just beginning, before his work with Tom Cullis and Timoteo,  and captured a model, and his youthful essence, before the massive changes which occurred after moving from Minnesota for California to make it big.

Although Ben was initially very patient with releasing material, before long, the site had taken off and the demand for new images and videos was unrelenting.  It soon wasn't enough that Ben was revealing every inch of his body, followers still wanted more.... and Ben supplied it. More erotic shoots, more erotic videos, from tickling to sexual interactions with other models, Ben worked at a frantic pace, working with different photographers and porn sites to increase the collection of material on his site. A highlight for me, and many, was the introduction of Ben's younger brother Michael to the site, and the naked skateboarding video's they released.

Like with most Internet phenomenons, Ben's site had a slow but steady build followed by a quick fall.  It wasn't that he didn't work hard to give his followers what they wanted, it was simply that over time, what followers wanted something, someone, new to follow.  Ben remains however, one of the most successful models at putting together a large amount of product, for an equally large following, He worked incredibly hard, to keep their interest, and to have them spend their money, over a relatively long period of time.  In some ways, Ben perfected the format of Onlyfans, years before Onlyfans was created.

When I recently checked out Ben's current on-line presence, I was surprised to see that he's is still fairly active on social media.  His site is long gone, but he still posts occasionally on Facebook, often to promote his music.  Ben seems more active on Twitter,  sharing updates, erotic images, and promoting an actual OnlyFans site, which looks to have started this past April.  Ben's look has changed, he's a little older, (as we all are) and has more than a few new tats.   What hasn't seemed to changed though, is Ben's ability to interact and connect with those who follow his work.  Despite how incredibly hot Ben looked without his clothes on, it really wasn't Ben's body that had fans wanting more.  In order to sustain interest, even over just the few years that he did, it took planning and that connection with those who fooled.  This was something Ben knew and practiced incredibly well.

I knew instantly there was something unique about the work of Jon Seneca. Jon first introduced us to his work with Philip last month (No Beginning And No End)and followed it up with his incredible shots of Benjamin Godfre earlier this month. (The Series Case of Benjamin Godfre)My feature showcasing Jon's shots of Benjamin were quickly spread across various other sites and blogs (thanks to all those who gave credit to FH and especially to Jon).

Jon has shot Philip numerous times and this shoot, Desert Ride is one of Jon's favorites as well as one of his first ventures into editorial/story telling within his work. 'I love the soft focus, grain, and moody feel they have to them.' I too love the feel of the work. Philip has a brooding, soulful looks that contrasts beautifully with his surroundings.
