FATHER'S DAY is a gory, disgusting, perverted mess... in a good way!
It's hard to label 2011's Father's Day. Sure it's a horror film, but it's also a satire, splatter, comedy B-movie. It's also indeed gory, disgusting and perverted, but as stated, in a good way. The film is written and directed by Astron-6. Astron-6 is made up of five members; Adam Brooks, Jeremy Gillespie, Matthew Kennedy, Steven Kostanski and Conor Sweeney.
Astron-6 was a Canadian film production and directing company founded in 2007. They're mostly known for producing low-budget, 1980s-centric independent movies that often combine horror with comedy. Three of members, (Kennedy, Brooks and Sweeney) are also a part of the Father's Day cast. Originally made as a short film, he feature-length version had its world premiere on October 21, 2011 at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, where it received multiple awards.
Thirty years ago, serial killer Chris Fuchman raped and murdered 10 fathers but was released on a technicality. During the next 10 years, more father rapes and murders were committed, but no evidence was found to be the work of Fuchman. Now, it's up to an unlikely trio of would-be crimefighters, a murderer, a priest, and a delinquent to try to bring down a father-killing madman.
It's always interesting to me when a writer includes a nude scene for a character they are playing. In this case, it's Kennedy's character Father John Sullivan. It's especially interesting when it's a full frontal scene. There is actually quite a bit of nudity in the film, but most isn't very erotic. Most of the nude scenes also involve a fair bit of blood. Thankfully for Father John's frontal, the blood was left safe and sound in the prop room. Video on SendSpace HERE:
People take a film with nudity in it a little more seriously....
